HALO-B and No-Rise - can you chop the feed neck?

This might be better in Tech - but wasn't sure.

I have a HALO-B and a No-rise Emag. I'm wondering if it will hurt anything to chop off the extra feedneck on the HALO that has it stick further up out of the No-rise then it could.

I'm thinkin at least 3/8s could be cut off. Any feedback or anyone try this yet?

    Thanks,

    -Calvin

from what I remember, cutting the feedneck greatly increases the chances of the HALO falling off the body in a game.

As long as there is enough of the feed neck still held by the no rise then I don't see why not?

Be careful not to cut it too short though, a gap inside can make balls hang up.

I'd take off just the bare minimum.

Oh and you may well void your warrantee... since it's not just the shell you are modifying but the inner neck also.

Yes, I know this thread is a month or two old, but I am just about to do this and was wondering if there is a certain science to it (ie, not wise to cut certain amounts of the neck off due to the way it would then stack the balls) and what specifically the benefits of cutting the 1/4 inch or so extra that sticks up over a norise. I know Tom Kaye did it when he came out with the no-rise, any pointers for the masses?

You mean YEAR and month or two old...

Just be careful not to cut the neck too short or you can get feed problems where the balls hang up on the gap inside between the bottom of the loader neck and the inside of the feed neck.

Measure the extra you have sticking out the top of your feed neck, then cut just less than that off the bottom of the hopper.

Note it will invalidate your warranty I expect.

You want about 1mm of gap between the top of the feedneck and the thicker part of the halo feed neck where it shapes into the body.

Gee I ran a Halo in a No rise and it was fine just with sanding to fit. I didn't cut any off...
