    Stuff Magazine = BAD image for the sport!! (i swear its a paintball topic)

    First i would like to quote the article for you from February 2003 Stuff Magazine, Page 68 in a review labeled "Cupid Killers"
    Word for word quote incoming here
    "ORR-ACLE AUTOCOCKER $1,100. Handcrafted and tested by
    Orr-acle before leaving the paint-splatterd factory, the Autococker is the pinnacle of simulated war technology. This paint-ball gun allows you to accurately shoot the sporting-goods salesman at nine rounds per second. Remember: Paintballs aren't bullets, but they can realy sting. So aim for the face!!" End quote.

    I am personaly outraged. Does paintball need more bad press like this? Simulated war? Aim for the face? Implying that factory safety in paintball is less than it is in any other setting? Maybe i am over reacting but i have sat in my house for 3 days trying to figure out what to do about this.
    I have composed a letter to the editor of Stuff Magazine and i will be sending it very soon. I believe that this article hurts the paintball industry, and the players by casting us in a poor light. If you feel as i do please write stuff and Maxim (parent magazine). Let them know that we, the paintball players, dont appreciate the bad press.

          I agree its a bad representation, but the one thing is .. its meant to be a sarcastic statement about "shooting the salesman"... its written as a joke.

              i scanned and did not see a thread about it.
              As for the shooting the salesman as a joke part.
              I understand that its a joke, and you understand that its a joke but what about those who just dont understand that?
              There are those people out there who simply dont know better. They lack common sense and simply cannot figure out that you dont shoot people with out a mask.
              I figured that some one should post it.

                  Looking at the audience of Stuff Magazine (dudes who wanna check out scantily clad women) I seriously doubt that comments like that are going to bring up a big contraversy.

                      I agree as well .. I'm just saying I see both sides of the "issue" ... ya know?

                      Stuff is a "gentlemans" style magazine, aimed at people who (hopefully by that time in life) have some common sense ..lol

                      I do agree with you though, in ANY situation unless I see a disclaimer saying "TRAINED PROFESSIONAL, ALWAYS WEAR PROTECTION" they should be taking the UTMOST caution to keep the integrity of the game there.

                      But just like anything, I also see the 'humor' side ... and ya cant have humor without a few people not getting the joke.

                                  Practically everything in that magazine has sarcasm written on it. I'm not sure which one it is, Stuff or Maxim, that they have a Loser of the Month. The funny thing is that the Loser of the Month is asked to pay the magazine $20 for being a loser and once this idiot actually sent in the $20. I find that hilarious. But seriously, I don't find anything offensive about that paintball article. It's just them being funny.

                                      I'm getting kind of sick of all the "image fanatics". Lighten up. Sure on the field we should all have plugs and where face protection and such. But come on, this was a positive mention on paintball.
