I recently picked up a side job a local indoor paintball place and we are unforunately paid in used paintballs that have been shot off of bunkers and stuff and we roll them off the floor often and place them all in a box to take home at night. But, If i dont find a more effient way to clean them, i am going to quit. It takes about 1 hour to clean 800 balls and you take home about 2700. Now, who wants to sit around for 3.5 hours and clean paintballs? THe balls are all painty and have broken shells all mixed in. Has anyone ever thought up a design to clean paintballs or does anyone have any ideas that wouldnt cost too much money?? Thanks alot.

There was an article about that in a magazine a while back...dont remember which one or when (I am really helpful). Anyway, it basically just suggested rolling them around in a towel...not sure if thats what you already do or not, but its worth a shot...

#1 You are getting shaffted. That paint isn't good for two reasons. 1)It wasn't good enough to break in the first place. 2) It's been very stressed so there's a very good chance it will break in your barrel.
#2 The best way to clean paintballs (I only use this if there's a broken ball in a bag or pod not balls off the ground) is to roll them around on a big bath towel. It shouldn't take an hour to clean 800. I can clean 140 in 2-3 minutes tops and I certainly don't consider myself a paintball cleaning fool!

believe it or not, you can rinse the paintballs with acitone (sp?). It might sound crazy, but all you have to do is buy cullender (sp?) and a gallon of acitone and put the paintballs in the cullender and pour the acitone over the paint. Just put a bucket under the cullender so that you can collect the acitone and reuse it. Note: i have done this before and it does not eat the paintball shell. Just lay the paintballs on a towel and let them airdry...that's all it takes

People whine about being paid to ref in real paint and free fills/field fees.

Ball cleaning sweatshop
At the new indoor in jersey they operate a paint cleaning sweatshop in full public view! At Shooters Paintball at the RexPlex you can actually watch caged women clean paintballs and package them for resale.
Ok, well the paint cleaning area is inside the old batting cage bays just like the rest of the staging areas, but I still find it funny.

sheesh, if a paintball touches the ground I'm not going to let it touch my gun... That's all there is to it. If you want your gun to stay in good condition and/or not get breaks all the time you get unused paint. Why bother even risking damaging any part of your guy? I mean you could say "I'll clean it very well!", but that doesn't mean you won't miss cleaning one or become careless.
You're getting the shaft man... Quit or demand better pay. You aren't really getting paid anyways. You could probably just walk onto the field and pick up paint if you wanted to.

alright, I realize that is **** pay and i dont like it any better, the only reason i am considering staying is because of the benefits such as free play all week and free air at the field all the time. And believe it or not, the paint doesnt shoot that bad in the gun the second time around, lol, that sounds funny. But it isnt that bad, I just need something to clean the balls much faster. 5 hours of work turns into 8 1/2 hours of work (not fun).
Whoever mentioned the acitone, that cant do much for me, I have shells wrapped around balls and everything, i would still have to pick at each one by hand it seems. Let me know if i am wrong. It is a huge mess!
