i was just wondering about how any barrel system with inserts could actually work, my point being, ya the back part of the barrel where the inserts go will shoot just fine since the paint to barrel match will be good. but what happens to the second stage of the barrel that has no inserts and is only 1 size??? i mean doesnt that seem to defeat the purpose if the ball still has the second part of the barrel to travel down with no inserts? if so whats the point of a insert then?
question about any barrel system with inserts

I believe I read about a 0 test on marrels once, and said that you reach your maximum velocity in the first 4 inches of the barrel, I believe it was 4 inches. And that everything after that was for removing the air out of in front of the paintball. So the diameter after the insert or back half of the barrel is not that important, aslong as its diameter is not smaller then the paintball.

all barrels are this way....well maybe not all im sure there is an exception but i would say most are
ur smaller diameter is on the back half of the barrel and there rest is bigger diameter."The Few Who Do Are The Envy Of The Many Who Only Stand And Watch"

yeh. 95% of barrels (and all tose labled "two piece" or "staged" or "stepped") have a "control" bore for 4-8" that is .679-.692" in diameter and another 4-10" that is .700 or .710" in diameter. There is SOME theory about this, i dont see any purpose other than quieting the marker..but SP WILL insist its more accurate and gives you more range
