Just got back from my tournament

I just back from my first tournament. My team didn't get to the finals (more on this), but I had a lot of fun. The staff was great, reffing was excellent, and the prices weren't bad. It was a tournament inteneded for just first time tournament players (many infact weren't though, some had quite some experience). Me and my teammates though had a great time.

In all, we played 5 games. Even though we didn't make it through to the finals, I strongly believe we truly were the best from our group but we just got bad breaks at the most unpleasant times. For example, our second game, we're playing the team that went through to the finals from our group. We eliminated 2 of their 3 within a minute. So it's 3 on 1, you can all guess what should have happened. What happened though was I went for the crush, I'm about 8-10 feet away from the guy and I shoot 3 balls, all bounce (don't know how they did from that close). He gets me, gets my teammate in the center, then gets my other teamate. They get the pull and hang. As for my other teammates and what happened to them that game, my back's gun broke and he didn't feel the need to let us know (it was broken before the game even started, because if we known this he'd have been going for the flag). But that's not the real kick, at least 10 balls bounced on the guy who my shots bounced on in the bunker attempt (he told us this, and we saw it too). Now I don't know if this is just dumb luck, the balls or maybe the fact he had one of those new Dye jerseys with padding, but it happened. I think this kind of discouraged us some and the fact that are next game was nearly two hours later, we didn't play great after that (we maxxed the other team our first game). Skill wise, I could tell we were just better, but thats why they play the game.

Overall though it was great playing my first tourney. Had a great time and look forward to playing more.

I am glad to hear you guys had fun at your first tournament, it is too bad that you didn't get into the finals but it was your first tournament you guy's will do better. Just remember that each tourney is a learning expenience and you will get better. Best of luck at your next one and remember practice makes perfect.

The best thing to do is just keep working at it, you'll get another tournament soon enough and as long as you all play hard, you'll do fine. I played in my first tournament a month ago and we did really well winning our first four games and lost to a REALLY good team in the finals, thus giving us second place.

That day just went really well for us and we had a lot of things go right for us in the first four games. Of course, we're all happy with how things went that day, but we all realize that the next time, we might not get as many breaks and we have to make sure to be on our game each and every game, otherwise when it comes down to the wire, things might not always go our way.

Work hard, play hard, it will pay off.

You already had an angel 2k2 before even playing a tournement? reminds me of a guy at our field who bought an orracle, and rarely plays.

As far as the learning curve regarding the bad bounces you got:

          1. Aim for the mask, marker or other hard targets first

          Glad you had fun!

heck yeah, when i'm playing a tourney i'm ruthless, if i'm gonna go mug some guy, i'm gonna keep shooting him till i see one visibly break on him....none of that 2 or 3 ball crap....until i see one break, i keep shooting

same thing with dead players, unless they have their gun in the air and are running towards the deadbox, they're gettin one in the pack or gun.....sorry but i dont want no crap that will make me lose a match

Yes I did. I play often. Just because I didn't play in a tournament before doesn't mean I wouldn't like a nice marker. Lots of people have Angels or other high end markers and don't play any tournaments. Angel was always something I'd wanted (been playing for 4 years) and I had enough saved, so I got it.
