    E-Mab battery sleeve weights.

    Here they are.

The top metal piece is = 29.5 grams

    Middle Aluminum = 79.4 grams
    Middle Resin = 34 grams
Gripped Middle Resin = 49.9 grams

    Bottom piece metal =18.1 grams
Bottom piece resin = 6.9 grams

So with the metal top piece, resin middle, resion bottom. The battery sleeve will weight 70.3 grams

Wit the metal top, AL middle, and AL bottom the battery sleeve will weight 127 grams.

If you multiply grams by 0.0352 you get ounces.

    So 127-70.3 = 56.7 .* .0352 = 1.99 ounces.

May not seem like much, but is a noticable difference. Add it one to the weight saved by the X-Valve, by the milling, and eventually by the AL body I will be getting. I will be one happy camper.

      Hehehe.....

2oz difference of the resin battery pack, combined with the 3oz difference of the X-Valve, thats a whopping 5oz difference in total... heheheh... just about 1/3rd of a pound

Then I will save another 4-5 ounces when I get an AL body.

Thanks for posting the battery weight info. I was wondering about the weight savings with the resin packs.

I was wondering about the differences myself. Thanks for posting them.
Except for the Automag in front, its usually the man behind the equipment that counts.

from the judge in the WDP v Sp case.... " i find it significant that aside from a somewhat limited notebook produced by gaston, the four named inventors offer NO documentation of there work or there contributions to the conception or reduction to practice of the claimed invention"

I know you have a heather pack, so I assume you have it, but my answer is that Heather can't make em. LOL, if you have one you might be a lucky one, but when my buddy reo5th and I asked Heather about the top pieces she says she can't get the thread inserts to work I think.

Maybe she can do it for really special customers like you, or maybe you got lucky, or maybe I'm wrong

Wow pito that is great! You mind if I put that info on my site?

As for the tops yes I think only data received one because I could only sucessfully make his threads work.
I have found a new way of putting threads in there.

However I felt that the aluminum top would work better because it is metal and much stronger to put up with the tugging and jostling from play.

That is why I stopped making them.

                            Heather,

Do you make opaque resin battery covers? I think I would like one for my polished black X-Mag, but I do not want to be able to see through it.

                            Pito,

Nice work on the weights. I would like to see a comprehensive listing of all parts' weights listed somewhere here on AO so that we could see the advantages to replacing some parts.

I might get around to weighing my milled rail. The people down in the grocerry store that I do it at, get all weird though, when I start weighing all the metal on their food scale. LOL

Heather I still would like to try out a top piece. Just let me know.
