gas mileage

Hey guys..

I have a 68ci 3000psi Flatline system. First of all, whenever I get it filled, wheter at a store or at the park, it doesn't go all the way to 3000psi. Now I know they never fill all the way up but I dont think my tank ahs been above 2500 ever.

Also, when I shoot sometimes it seems like my reg creeps back up to input pressure.

Any ideas?

thats because of chemistry laws. PV = nRT. basically, as you put air in (increasing the P ressure) you increase the T emp. When the tank cools down to the outside air temp, the pressure goes down some too. You may leave the fill station with 3000 in the tank, but 5 mins later its at 2500psi.

Every shop that fills air should get a cool radiated water pool (like a large sink size) to fill the tanks in so you want get any heat off

well..

where i play now, there are no 4500 psi fills, but there maybe some soon. should i look into a crossfire or centerflag "phat" 88ci 4500 for $200 and sell my flatline to a friend for 200, or should i look for a 88 3000 bottle for my flatline system to get some more shots?

Hmm...no. That would be worse. what you'd have then, would be cold air going into a warm tank. You fill it to 3000 psi, and the air inside warms up, bam, you've got a 3500 psi fill.

There goes your burst disc and fiber-wrapped tank.

I think he means that by haveing the tank in cold water it would dissapate the heat generated during the fill. Therefore negating the pressure drop that happens when the tank cools down. My local scuba shop fills scubas in a horse water trough therefore 3k fills everytime.


Also I don't think i have ever seen a 3.5k bust on a HPA tank only on C02. The burst that came on my flatline was a 4.5k i think. And even then most fiber tanks are good well beyond that. Over engineering = safety.
