The Phantom is in the mail any pump advise?

    Hello,
I just bought a Phantom to add the the gun collection. Any advise for a new pumper from those of you that have been doing it for a while. Come on Fred I know you are out there.

I suppose spay and pray is out for you now.
I don't know a thing about pump play, I wish I did though so I'm keeping track of this tread.

    Me shutting up now.

I'd say a better barrel and a shoulder stock.

Play aggressive! Dont let your limited firepower keep you from pushing hard. Its best if you have a semi buddy you can keep nearby so you dont have to worry about being perminately stuck down, and so you'll have someone to provide covering fire so you can make your super pump moves!

        Good luck. You'll enjoy it.

The stock CCI barrel is pretty darn good. Practice cocking and pumping to get a good idea how fast you can go without chopping.

Learning the pumping rythim is good. It can be all kinds of bad if you double pump. Also learn to take quick, accurate shots. I'm telling you from experiance, when your stuck behind a bunker due to "enemy" fire, you only have time for one MAYBE two shots before you have to retreat to cover again. Believe me, you will never need a new barrel for your phantom. The stock barrel is one of the most accurate barrels I have ever shot. Are you planning to play stock class or run a CA (Constant air) and hopper setup? Also, just beacase your playing pump, donesn't make you NOT dangerous. After a good year of playing with it you should be one pretty nice shot. Playing with it will also help you when (or if) you convert back to playing semi.

Which setup did you get? VSC or hopper?

Who said what about upgraded barrel? A pox on thee, begone newbie! I guess you don't know that the Phantom stock barrel is the best bang for buck barrel out there, the only advantage gained in ANY aftermarket barrel is a lower noise signature. EDIT:ADDED: Oh, and cool factor, but you're already shooting a pump... its hard to make pumps cooler than they are already...

Hitman- If you're going VSC, I first recommend getting a good SC harness that it is easy to get your tubes and 12grams out of. Doc Nickel has just gotten in an order of fannypack style, and capless (no annoying green caps to lose)! www.docsmachine.com his email is funky right now, but post on the forum(or find the thread about them), and I'm sure he'll be glad to take your money (and you get a great product to boot). His P-stocks are also great, I love the one I run on my Phantom right now.

As for practice, snap shooting is the name of the game.

Going toe-to-toe with anything semi is a fast way to end up in the deadbox, until you have mad skills like me, and that cuts your chances down to 1 outa 5 of ending up gogged...

For a lot more detailed Phantom, and pump stuff in general, check out the Phantom Owners group on EZBoard... http://pub15.ezboard.com/bphantomphorum75007 We have a couple other recent AO converts hanging around too...

Yes Fred I went VSC. Do you find a belt or a Ronin harness better for your tubes? I was thinking of making my oun stock. I have access to a metal shop and I figured I could custom make it to fit me. I will check out the phantom user group.
                  Thanks

IMHO : Learn how to play hard, but not volume. Pumps will teach you skills like snapshooting, teammate utilization, and stuff like that if you're willing to learn it.

Best tactic I can tell ya is expect to get spanked a few times, then start thinking. Start using your brain and think. Play your bunkers hard (go left side, the right, then left, mix it up!) Play your cover hard. Get in there and play with thought behind your moves.

Then pick up your 'Mag and realise "WOW! I CAN PLAY!"

just curious, what threading do phantoms use? I figure a barrel kit would do wonders on a phantom.

..i'd like to play rec with a stock-class phantom sometime :)

you can get detent rings for your phantom, only $6 straight from CCI (www.phantomonline.com).

having your balls rolling out when you move around isn't fun.

I remember the first day I picked up my cocker after playing PGP all winter at CCP. you can ask skreemer on this one. I got a guy out and my first responce was "Look I moved!" I had broken free of the sit and shoot habbit.

Oh yea.. yaknow those new titanium paintball barrels.. they are made with the same process CCI has been using on their barrels singe before the begining of time. *grins*

Get the breach sizer rings. And have some kind of a stock. an L stock, a bottomline tank, a tank on a dropforward, a wire stock, ANYTHING. It makes such a huge difference in your ability to keep the gun on target.

Enjoy the gun. Pumps add to your game more than most people would lead you to believe.

first word of advice. don't play a pump tourney for your first time out, oops guess I'm a little late on that one.
Good luck though, I'm also looking at picking up a phantom myself, for gits and shiggles.
