AO: We are back from the dead... again! After an 18 day outage, we are finally alive and well. Who knew how complicated updating software/databases from 2008 would be. I still have alot of tweaks to make, but my main goal was getting everything patched and updated to 2026.
Vbulletin 6 has changed alot since 2008 so we will have a ton of new features to dig into.
Z-Body/Lapco Big Shot Large Bore Users...What Paint Do U Use???
If you have a really large-bore paint, anything'll work really.
Having a really round shell helps tho, since the ball is spinning. Advantage shell is really round, so get that lvl 10 in there (since they're pretty brittle) and shoot away.
I've used PMI Premiums, and Diablo Blaze on a z-bodied setup, and I think the premiums did a lot better job, when they weren't breaking. I got my z-body in the pre-lvl 10 era.
man... what were 'mags like before lvl 10? I kinda forgot
I have to agree with joey, the dry advantage shell RPS stuff seemed to work best. The skidplate grabbed it much better than any of the oil based shells.
I guess I have the Backspin thing all wrong....I thought for the Z-Body you needed the Biggest Bore Barrel and the Smallest bore paint to achieve the best backspin??? But whats strange is that with the Lapco Bigshot(Z-Body-Largebore) Barrel I've found no problem using RpScherer/PMI El Tigre Paintballs which is a small bore paint...In anycase where can I buy advantage shell paint for cheap??? I would like to try it out!!!
Also you mentioned adding a Level 10 to the Z-Body...I thought this was not possible??? I remember reading somewhere on this forum that the Level 10 and Z-Body CANNOT be combined...If I remember it had something to do with the Size of Bolt...
Please correct me if I'm wrong....
As always many thanks in advanced !!!

Well, you don't necessarily need the largest bore, or the smallest paint. Simply put, your paint has to be able to roll through the barrel without much effort.
When I had my Z-body setup, I could shoot whatever paint I wanted with my .700 10" CP barrel
Granted, it wasn't the best fit, it 'still worked pretty well. You don't want the paint to be TOO loose, because that will begin to effect accuracy, I believe. Don't quote me on that.
I believe ALL RPS paints are now using the "dry" advantage shell. I usually get my paint from www.paintballgear.com . I've ordered MANY cases of paint from them, and got them all without breaks, or damage. Just make sure what you're ordering is in stock.
As for the lvl-10 kit, It wasn't released before I sold my Z-body in favor of a warp feed. I would find someone with a lvl-10 bolt and ask them if you can test-fit it in your gun.
if it *doesn't* fit, I would see if I could get one of the machinists here on AO to bore it out a bit for you.
Z-Body + Lvl-10 + Brittle Paint makes for a killer woodsball combination.
There is a problem with the lvl10 fitting the z-body. The head of the lvl10 is just large enough to no fit in the washer of the body. What I did was to sand down the head of the bolt till it fix. I took me awhile to get it right. Just wrap fine sandpaper around the head and give it 10-20 swips. Check the fit and repeat procedure till it does. I Was using marb's before they changed to the cornstarch formula and was doing great. Since the formula change, I had bad luck with them. And this was using Checkit 2-piece barrel that was a medium bore. I changed to Proball and had better luck but was getting some barrel breaks. I'll be getting a CP 2-piece soon and will try that.
