    To anyone at AGD.

    Dear Airgun Designs,

I am a modeler for the half-life modification, Digital Paintball. As you may or may not know, Halflife is the most widely played engine in the word, with more than 100,000 people playing at any given time. Digital Paintball itself topped out at the #6 mark for most played halflife games, trailing only behind those which where sponsored by the developers of halflife itself. What does this have to do with you, you might ask? I was recently given the task of modeling, or creating a digital replica of, your X-Mag marker. I am starting this thread to ask for your approval of the model, and to make sure there is nothing wrong with it. During the development of this model, I was only able to look at the European version of this marker, and even then only at reference pictures. It would be a large bonus to the realism of our game if I were able to make this model better, but sadly I cannot afford your XMag. The pictures and animations that are shown in this thread are yours to keep and use, and any comments or suggestions would be appreciated.

Tom, of course, would have to give you anything official. And Simon did the design work for the C&C body so I not sure who still has rights to that permission but I assume that its not for reproduction of the actual thing here anyway. So Hopefully he will respond on this for you.

What is it you are wanting to know about things we see wrong? And realy how picky do you want that to be? I just see a few realy very vminor things but they are very nit picky and I like the models like they are for the most part.

Yes it really is a great job

One thing im concerned about your game is how with each marker the accuracy differs depending one what it is. Such as the autococker is most accurate, even if all the guns have a boomstick on them. I didnt want to see this rumor get spread even more, and I was wondering if you were going to change it

        Thanks

Oh, if you make your gun models bigger, and more towards the middle of the screen with a more back-viewed angle, it would seem a lot more realistic. And if you added subtle movements in all directions (but not too obvious!! game models have been ruined because of that) it would also make it better.

          Xz,

Sure you have our premission. Looks great! See if you can make it more like the CnC.

          Thanks!

To be perfectly honest, I would have loved to model the CnC for the game, but I was unable to find any references at all. I was wondering if there was some way that you might possibly be able to help?

              This should help.

Cool mod. I agree with the accuracy fallacy... can you guys fix? Accuracy/range = same.

                  Accuracy

As much as DPB tries to be realistic, it is also a game. Sometimes in games you have to make certain sacrifices to reality in order to make the game more fun...

However, I have heard from my teammates that for the next version they are going to seriously readjust how everything works.

All X-Mag bodies, both Std & C&C, are all designed & manufactured here in the UK, so they all look the same, in Europe or the U.S.
We'd be more than happy for you to model the C&C version.
Not sure if it's just me, but I can't open the AVI file of the animated X-Mag.
Real Player & media player both say it's a non standard format ?

                      John,
It might be in DIVX format, go to www.divx.com and download the free DIVX player and try opening it with that.

And on a side note, I was the one who asked em to model the Xmag ... they already did the Emag but I updated them to the new Xmag info and gave em the basics (if you all remember me asking for 0 degree pics a while ago).... it became a VERY long thread in their "Real Paintball" section and "modeling" forum for a long time til they changed forums....

                      Sincerely

Hey guys, I'm the marker animator for DPB, and while were on the subject, do any of you have any high quality videos of an xmag shooting? I know there isnt much to see, but I do like to get the feel of the STOCK trigger pull and recoil, and any other movement that any marker may have. Thanks in advance,

                            Jmechy

                              Dear AGD,
It seems like you guys would really like to see your CNC body on my model. However, I am quite incapable of adding the fine and minute details that make the complicated CNC, well, sexy . If I were to somehow get a CNC XMag, I would be more than happy to create highly detailed models for you to use in marketing, and frankly for anything you desire, in addition to the low polygon models I am making for the game. My email is [email protected], let me know if this sounds like a good idea.
