    What is Xball?

I've been hearing all these things about how Xball is so great, but I can't figure out what is different. I've seen the field and it looks tight. Is that the only difference between that and speedball. Please LMK. Thanks

Basically, it's paintball where times games are played for points. Each flag hang is worth a point. The most suprising thing is fans and coaches can yell to the players during the game letting them know which bunkers are hot and warn them of plays. It's pretty intense. Here's a few sites for more info. http://207.236.192.237/X_Ball_Title_Frameset.htm and http://207.236.192.237/NXL/NXL_Excitement.htm]

        What about the fist fights...?

So instead of hitting the player you just light him up?

I don't know. I got to see some X-Ball at MGO this year. It was pretty cool. The coaching really moves the game a long wuite a bit. Instead of playing conservatively, players advance quicker because they know they're not gonna get lit up making their move.

Not to mention the fact that there's lots more bunkering involved in X. I really think this is the way Paintball will get to TV. The only thing I don't like about it are all of the restrictions. Team entry fees are supposed to be astronomical and there are restrictions about playing only X-Ball and nothing else or some CRAP like that... That is what will keep X-Ball from growing.

I guess everyone wants their piece of the pie.

Well I watched a morning of it at MGO and have decided that you either love it or hate it. I'm in the hate it category.

If that's the way paintball makes it to TV well.

Anyway it's airball with more bunkers and yelling from the sidelines. Sure they keep up with points differently but so what. Any advantages that a team or individual gets from taking a bunker with out the other team knowing it disappears cause somebody on the sideline will yell it out.

I can't count how many times I watched a guy slide into the snake with NO body on the other side seeing it only to get lit up cause somebody on the sidelines hollered where the guy was. Takes a lot of the skill(maybe not right work but still) out of the game.

I agree completely. I will be playing xball in chicago in June just to try it out. But as of right now the format just doesn't do it for me.
