Cledford: The LED is visible without having to take off the grip. However, to access the higher functions of the E-Blade, such as timing, you indeed to have to open the grip and press a little button.
As for Race going belly up, it is sad to hear considering that they make a quality product (even though I opted for the E-Blade, I will give credit where it is due). The only problem I have with the the E-Blade is the short battery life. If anyone over at Planet Eclipse is listening, if Race starts going under and has to sell it's assets, buy their sear patent and implement it. This will solve your battery problem and make you the undisputed leader in the electro-cocker wars.

Ok you can adjust some of the timing from the Eblade without taking the grip off but it's mainly more of a status display with the grip on (or at least that's what I understand please correct me if I'm wrong.
And sure you can carry a Palm with you for the Race. It just so happens some of us HATE Palm Pilots. If the software could run of a Windows Handheld or Palm then if you be much more usuable to us. (Yes some of us in Mississippi do know what computers are and do carry some form of one every where we go. And sorry I don't think that a Palm is a computer. - sorry for the rant)
Sure the computer program has a nicer UI. But if you don't have a laptop or palm you can't access it when your playing.(I don't mean actually when your playing but say between games)
Anyway
About the Chapter 11 stuff. From my understanding that's just Racegun USA. Not the same people as Racegun DK. Anyway if you get the frame from Freeflow/Professional you only deal with them. (Now there are currently some supply issues but they are supposedly going to be resoloved real soon now)
Also ANS has a Race grip they are making on the market now. So I don't think the Racegun DK people have gone anywhere.

It's a rechargable battery system like the "full" Race frames from Racegun DK not a 9vt like from Freeflow/Professional.
The Racegun USA folks though have shafted a lot of folks and to my undestanding have run off with whatever money the company had. But those are different then Racegun DK.
Anybody out there feel free to correct me where I'm wrong.

Racegun DK has filed for chapter 13 not chapter 11. Chapter 13 being restructuring. Racegun USA was a divison Racegun DK same management. Now Freeflow/Professional PB has the right to manufacture Racegun components since the filling of chapter 13. And a team mate of mine spoke to Ethian about this on the phone and Ethian has a small supply of components to make repairs with and is looking into fabing more. Though all the people on the Drexel University Team have sold or trade there racegun components away upon hearing of the chpater 13 stuff.Drexel University Dragons

On the battery thing... I went thru a case of paint on Sunday and I have used about 15% of the charge according to the EBlade battery meter. The trigger is fantastic and I have mine set very short, tho bounce is a bit of a problem.
Eclipse are designing a new set of grips for the EBlade, imho there is nothing wrong at all with the standard ones.
There will be a PC interface available shortly, the port is already on the board.
As for having to take the grips off, its no hardship at all, once the marker is set there is very little reason to keep opening it up anyway. Plus as long as the eye is on most of the timing is done automatically.
As for the EBlade becoming the the undisputed leader in the Electro Cocker wars, I think you may find thats a forgone conclusion.
I have never been a fan of one particular marker, I tried loads out before I made my final choice, for me personally the Eclipse Cocker was the best of the bunch and knowing Planet were developing an electro trigger for it ensured my custom.
