same performance, lighter weight and level 10 bolt standard. probably slightly less durable. (aluminum vs Stainless steel )but all important area are SS on xvalve..

The X-Valve is cooler... which will make you feel good... giving you more confidence = you perform better on the field.

askman just about summed it up. it's just out of a lighter metal, and has a lvl 10 bolt installed, it's also cheaper. x-valves will soon be done in different colors too, just like the ULE's. i was never a weight nazi, i never minded the weight of the stock stainless valve, pretty much the only reason why i bought an x-valve is i was gonna get a retro for x-mas, and well the x-valve came out 2 days before x-mas, so i got one of the ones from the 1st batch

*edit* here's the description right from the airgun website:

The X-Valve is the second generation ReTro Valve. Lightweight aluminum construction, hyperfast recharging integrated regulator, Reactive Trigger technology, and the Lvl 10 are all standard equipment, making this our most popular upgrade!

The X-Valve's regulator fully recharges in less than .04 seconds, which means this: Shootdown is a thing of the past. The hyperfast recharge rate allows the X-Valve to fire at 26+ times per second without shootdown, faster than anyone can pull the trigger. The regulator also maintains consistent pressures inside the valve. This in turn gives you consistent velocities which allows tighter shot groupings.

The Reactive Trigger actually pushes your finger back after firing each shot, enabling you to easily reach much higher rates of fire as compared to the standard 'Mag valve. The X-Valve omes with everything you see here and is a direct replacement for the standard 'Mag valve. Slide it right in and go to town!

I am always interested in weight savings coming from my mountain bike racing times... so the X is worth it for me. combine it with a ULE and you've got a whole new gun. I'm a big fan.
                sigs are overrated.
