It might be the little bullet thingys they can use in fake m-16s that are filled with paint and have air behind it. I've never bled profusely from a paintball to the noggin, so thats my guess.Comment

it could have been at point blank, and im gessing they aren't using cronos
Tom had this to say at the end of tech tip 3
-AGD-
"....When the military came to us and wanted a more accurate non lethal system we made a bullet shaped, spin stabilized paintball that far outperformed any equal weight round projectile. Accuracy by volume has been, and will remain, the best way to score eliminations."

They were probably using specialy designed paint bulets like the kind used in Model 85's. They discribe them on this page. http://www.geocities.com/colosseum/loge/4039/guns.html
look down the page. It says it fires at about 400 FPS. That could easly break the skin from close range.Comment

From seeing the urban trainng here at Fort Campbell, I know the 101st uses what is called a sim round. It is usually a 9mm or a 5.56mm (M-16/M4/m-249 SAW) round with a paintball at the end instead of a bullet.
So take a paintball the size of the bullet with the force of a bullet behind it.
They use these with their own weapons for more realistic training.
Now dont get me wrong, I have also seent hem use regualt paintball markers also.

You got it G-Rock..it's called simunitions. This site describes it pretty well. My office is in charge of it on Fort Campbell. It's a great idea!Comment

It's easy to say that a paintball team coudl do better in that situation but I highly doubt they could. As for the casualty rate, the first man around a corner, threw a door, over a wall, etc... is expected to take the first hit. This allows the rest of the team to pin point and eliminate the target.Comment
