There was a big aurora event last night and I took pictures from my front yard here in Chicago. It is rare that you can see them from a bright city like this. It turns out that Fox8 in Cleveland is going to show my picture on the weather report this morning at 5:46AM 6:12AM and 7:12AM. If anyone from the area can tape it and send me a copy I'll send them an AGD sweatshirt. It might be on later too but these are for sure.

I have seen the "Northern lights" (Aurora Borealis)many of times, because I live in Alaska. But I was amazed that the bright red aurora was not only seen by Alaskans but by so many other states. Nice photos, was it taken with a digital camera? If so what speed was your appature set at?

Great ppictures. I have never seen "northern lights" or auroras happen, but love the pics. I am not an astronomer, but love to look at the sky at night...especially with a cold one (iced tea, that is.)
