AO: We are back from the dead... again! After an 18 day outage, we are finally alive and well. Who knew how complicated updating software/databases from 2008 would be. I still have alot of tweaks to make, but my main goal was getting everything patched and updated to 2026.
Vbulletin 6 has changed alot since 2008 so we will have a ton of new features to dig into.
we are in the process of doing one right now. It may or may not work out right- - our thread in the dealer's forum has the whole deal on the micromag drama, and will be the first place that I post up wether or not it's do-able without having to get a new body. http://www.automags.org/forums/showt...threadid=81020
Yep its your thread that scared me. I have this ugly green E Micro and i just thought i could buy it and get it re-annoed.Then i read your post =).. Now i have to know, because if i cant get it ano'd im just going to sell it.
If I were you, i would try to wait at most a week longer- - - we will know the fate of chuck's micromag body this week. However, I would suggest waiting a little longer that that before you buy the 'ugly' gun. Main reason: IF we can get the ring out and every thing seems to be fine, we still won't know for sure until chuck gets the gun back and attempts to shoot it. That will be the final word, in my opinion.
Ok, call me the dummy here but what exactly happens to the SS ring in an anno. bath? From what I understand the chemicals in the anno. bath attack the SS and begin to dissolve it. If this is true isn't there a way to cover it (or plug that portion on the body) so that the chemicals don't react with the ring. Sure that portion of the inside won't be annoed but its on the inside so no one will see it and it'll save a ton of trouble. I ask this b/c I'm in the same boat, I don't wanna damage my micro body (its the older /// milling not the nre sss type) b/c ptp doesn't make it any more.
I already bought this Ugly Green E Micro =). I thought i could just get it Re-Ano'd. Hopefully there is something you can fill the inside of the body with so the chemicals dont ano the Inside or at least the part where the Ring is.
I am working on this problem RIGHT now. i am runnign a second test tonight. i think i have a way of doing it.
i allready tryed to just throw it in there and see if the anao will stick.
guess what it didnt!.
from what we can gather, alumi and steel conduct ele at 2 diffrent rates. the anao bath is suposto go basicly till it wont conduct ele anymore. but the steel ring is still conducting ele. so it over anao's. and the dye wont stick.
so you say take the ring out, well they made it so you cant. the nurled the outside of the ring. if you found a way to take it out you would remove enuff metal that the new one either wouldnt stick or may be off center.
so i think i have found another way to do it. i will post tommarow on weather it works or not
Smokee_2_7 if you read this have barry call me before he trys anything, we talked about how he was going to try it, and i dont think it will work anymore. just have him call me before he trys anything.
i hope i can have some good news for you all tommarow.
from the judge in the WDP v Sp case.... " i find it significant that aside from a somewhat limited notebook produced by gaston, the four named inventors offer NO documentation of there work or there contributions to the conception or reduction to practice of the claimed invention"
How would caulking or some type of strong commercial sealant hold up in the anno bath? I was thinking you could cut a metal disk nearly to the size of the ID of the body, attach a wire or something to pull it out by, and seal it along the outside. Will the acid attack normal sealants?

Yes, you are correct. The SS reacts violently in the acid when electrically charged. You can coat the exposed surface with a laquer finish that will protect the metal from this reaction. After the annodize is finished and sealed, you can remove the laquer with toluene or similar thinner.
Except for the Automag in front, its usually the man behind the equipment that counts.
had to wait till today for it to dry, and its going in the tanks tonight.
hope to have a update tommarow.
