    Banning Paintball Markers!

ok, i was cruising the paintballchannel.com site a few minutes ago and i came across an artical. here's the link to the artical: http://www.paintballchannel.com/brow...&style=details

here's the link to the petition: http://www.petitiononline.com/pb101/petition.html

incase these don't work...just go to paintballchannel.com, on the left hand column, look under politics. it will link to an artical. at the bottom of said composition is the link to the petition.

We all need to take whatever action we can on this.

    Thanks guys

        Like all on-line petitions--- nothing.

          It died.

02-0703, which banned air guns in general, was signed into law on Dec. 19, 2002 and took affect on Jan 19, 2003. As paintball guns are generally considered air guns, this law does technically ban the possession of paintball markers in Baltimore City, with a $500 fine and 60 days in jail penalty. Note that this is according to an initial version of the bill I have from March 12, 2002 - it may have been amended since then. Fortunately, for reasons I won't get into here, the ordinance is not actually enforcable, although it'll be a right pain in the butt for the first person who has to demonstrate this.

02-0713, which banned possession of paintball markers specifically, was removed from city council consideration due to lack of action (i.e. it never got the next required hearing), partly due to a concerted effort to turn out opposition to the bill at the local level (people testifying at hearings) and contact local officials through local residents directly.

Online petitions are worth the paper they are printed on (nothing) and are just a way for internet kiddies to feel like they're contributing without actually putting forth enough effort to do anything constructive. This online petition in particular had zero affect on the legislation in consideration, and never reached the legislators in question (not that they'd have cared if it did.)
