Angel or Cocker, I think the choice is obvious...

Angel or Cocker, I think the choice is obvious but I'm not sure.

Waiting for my mag to get back from AGD has given me the idea that it might be good to just branch out a little into the autococker world. So I spent some time talking to friends and cam up with this set-up that I would buy:

    -Vert 2k3 Cocker
    -Dye Ultralight Barrel
    -Palmer Rock Reg
    -P&P Rock Knob
    -Palmer Stabalizer
    -Bomb 3-way
    -KAPP Pump Arm
    -KAPP Sto Ram
    -Shocktech Superfly 2k
    -some hoses, drops, etc.

This set-up would put me at roughly 600 bucks.

Now while explaining this to a friend who also owns a cocker he says:

"Noooo dude. You gotta buy my angel. It's a 1000 dollar gun, and I'll sell it cheap, I need the money. (for his El Camino, the thing is a money magnet)It comes with the barrel and everything you need. I'll also throw in an air tank. All for $600, it takes about that much to get a cocker going anyway"

What should I do? The Angel is a little old, but I've seen it in action and it is NICE. I was wondering waht the ups/downs are to having an angel versus a cocker. Or if most of you are just gonna say DUDE GET THE ANGEL! Thanks for the input that is to come.

if your looking into Angels, look into Intimidators. They are way better. They are cheaper, look nicer, lighter, are able to cycle much much faster and they can not chop paint.

But with an intimidator you must also factor in the price of the tank, hopper, new barrel (maybe?) and all that other little stuff. The angel would be ready to go. And how is a 1000 dollar intimidator cheaper than a 600 all things included angel?

really depends upon the type of angel. If it is LCD angel with good 4500 tank, it is worth that. If it is LED, it is marginal value. I sold a LED Dark angel for low 400s.

if you want a 2k2+ cocker, look for a nice used one. You should be able to get a very nice upgraded cocker for about 400 bucks..

Definately get the angel in that situation. Buying used is the way to go. I just bought a merlin cocker with better parts inside and out than the 2k3 you were thinking of for around 400 bucks. Get the angel if it's an LCD, period.

              what a joke

if your looking for a hyped up gun, sure go for the intimidator, if you want a gun thats been around and is tested, tried and true, go for the angel.

              "way" better? good one

cheaper, hmm speeds are 900-1000 cheapest timmy ive seen is 990. 2k3 lcds were what, 850?

              look nicer? personal opinion

              lighter, yes

              shoot faster? nope it wont
just like most electronic guns, it will only cycle as fast as you can pull the trigger, so no marker is "faster" than any other.

the ir3's and speeds have anti chop systems just like the timmy does, and no system will be 100% effective 100% of the time

AND, your not going to find ANY timmy worth buying for 600 bucks, 600 bucks will buy a very decent angel.

Cockers are not anywhere near that expensive, a stock cocker + barrel + agitated hopper + spring kit + valve tool, can get you a very nice cocker that performs exceptionally, or conversely the market is flooded by cockers, thus making them quite cheap. But if you want an electro an angel is hard to pass up.

Maintenance on an Angel? What's that? Just get a little love juice and you're set.
Stars and Stripes was just an anno pattern in Red, White, and Blue btw.

Actually, you could find a great timmy for 600 bucks, it wont be a GZ or 2k2 or storm or lasoya, but it will be a classic, with WAS board and clamshell. Only thing that seperates timmys, are the body desgins.

I'd say get the cocker. Why buy an outdated gun. Who cares if its an Angel. The cocker is a tried and true gun. They're solid, and you can never be finished upgrading them. I just think a cocker is always a more solid choice. If you ever want to go electro, the Eclipse Eblade/cocker combo makes for one of the sickest electros out there. Please...get the cocker!
