    Aluminum Field strip screw?

This might be a real dumb question-

Would it be feasable to create a field strip screw out of aluminum instead of using SS? I don't know if an aluminum screw would be able to withstand the cycling of the valve, but my thought is, with several guys already cross threading thier X-valves, would making a softer screw help? I think that the aluminum might sheer off, but I don't know all of the specifics-

    Just a thought.

I don't know anyone that has cross-threaded an X-valve, but from my experience with Chevy cast iron engine blocks/heads and Honda cast aluminum blocks/heads... aluminum is MUCH easier to strip or cross-thread. OTOH, I wouldn't trust an aluminum field strip screw, even if it was fully heat treated.

I bought a micromag used, and it came stripped... I can't screw the field screw in all the way and the screw is not only stripped, but the valve is too. Doom on me...
