In sup air and hyperball, you can lean or press into the bunkers when wrapping, and a longer barrel means less of you is sticking out.

I use a 12" AA on my mag most of the time, and a 14" Jacko on my Angel. Sometimes I rock the 12" J&J full tilt though.

you guys are giving conflicting posts, so anyway, if i got a 10" JJ edge it would be just as accurate if I got the 14", right? If anyone has this barrel (10")or any other short barrel please tell me how you like it.

the longer barrel only offers "percieved" accuracy because you can sight down it a little better

paintballs by definition will never be all that accurate...
little wobbley bags of paint just don't make very good bullets
        sorry guys...
better to learn this now and not get your panties in a bunch

I started using a 16" barrel for air bunkers and tube fields... then I just got used to sighting with it and it feels much more comfortable now.

When I first started with the 16", every now and then I would jam my tip into the bunker or ground, but it's just a matter of learning how to handle the length. Now I never have any problems... you just have to adapt and play smart.

With a longer barrel, I'm able to stay covered behind air bunkers (and even behind brush and shrubs in rec ball) much better than with my shorter barrels.

As for all this "longer length creates more drag" nonsense... I have a CP Pro Kit. It is a two peice barrel, and since the tip's bore is larger than the back bore, the ball NEVER touches the front half of the barrel. So that kills that argument.

                Efficiency?

                try this...

Chrono your mag with a "short" barrel (8"-10") to around 270-280 fps... whatever, just note the speed.

Without adjusting any regs, switch out your "short" barrel for a "longer" one (14"-16").

Now chrono the gun and tell us what you see...

*hint* the fps goes up a little... i.e. better efficiency not worse

                    doubtful
at best, it'll stay the same

                    and that's just with 2 piece/stepped barrels
if you have 2 barrels that are .685(for example) the entire length
                    and one was a 10", one was a 16"...
                    the velocity would go down(slightly).

Make sure that you are you using a short barrel and a long barrel that have the same bore size. Otherwise, that will affect your results.

                          Did you do the test?
I find that sometimes when Im leaning in close to a bunker, the ball will just touch the bunker when i shoot and it will ricochet off. I tried playing with a 16in yesterday, and it was great, i never had that happen. People might think that 16in is too long, but it didnt bother me at all.

                              OWNed

I recently completed a science project on the effectiveness of diferent barrel lengths we use 5 lengths no barrel, 5", 12", 17", and 21" after sufficent testing the 21" barrel came out musch more effective with 100% shots hitting the target and the lowest average distance away fom the bulls eye. then the second most effective was the 5"

hope it was all the same gun, in a vise, indoors, chrono'd every shot, etc etc.
