The longer the barrel the better the accuracy and its quieter and more efficant. With my 16 inch barrel I can hit mice in my back yard from the endof my drive way!!
no one is going to say anything?

compensation. how many guys have you seen at the field with 16" stiffis?

unless its a newb trying to be a "snyper", its either 1) to wrap a bunker, or 2) its easier for them to sight down the barrel if its longer.

Its kinda funny about barrel lenghths. My 5" UL back is more accurate than this kids 21" Thunderpig barrel but he kept insisting that his was more accurate and that mine was too small to produce any good accuracy(I hit small random objects 50' away to prove that my barrel was accurate but he told me it was just luck, whatever)

EDIT: Sorry for posting in such an old thread. I didn't notice how old it was.

I use a 16'' because i find it easier to wrap certain bunkers, especially playing back/mid. It allows me to push further into the bunker, leaving myself less open. I'm a big guy so every little bit helps (ok, not that big but ...)

              wow
talk about a blast from the past
i dont even remember saying these things, though it does sounds like stuff i'd say
              honestly though
i dont care what barrel size you use,
if you like to stay tight and small and feel a short barrel helps you accomplish that, then use it
if you prefer a longer barrel because you play a lot of airball and it helps wrap bunkers,
              go ahead
if you're a scenario player who's gun is made up like an m16 and require a 21incher to accomplish the look, fine, do it

pesonally i've used lengths from 8" to 21" with varying results and all i can really say for sure, in real world situations, is that the minor differences between barrel lengths and their relative effects on efficiency and accuracy, if any, are neglegible compared to the major differences you'll find in your average case of paint.
              end of story.

why do i use a 14in barrel rather than 11? Because with alonger barrel, you can push bunkers around, and ya cant do that as well with a shorter one. Thats the bottom line for me

It's different for each person, they often THINK its more accurate, and sometimes it may be the case, but most often the longer the barrel the more inefficient it is.

Then there are those who want the long barrels for a certain look they are going for, or using the barrel to "push" airball bunkers for tighter profiles.

I have never gone longer than 14" myself, I feel no need.

past about 12" yes... but thats not accounting for "stepped" bore barrels, with, say, a .689 back and .700 front. the inefficiency is due to the ball being slowed down due to friction, because there is a tight paint/barrel fit. with a stepped bore there will be greatly reduced friction after the first 6" (or wherever the step is).

Well if any of you played woods ball you would know that a long barrel is used to shoot through bushes. You just shove the barrel through the bush while your safe on the other side, so you can shoot out will the bush eats all the incoming paint. noobs
