I would like to know what you would recomend to put on it. I am on a limited budget but i want a nice gun. If you could give me some good ideas for upgrades and their prices i would be grateful.

    Thank you very much

automags ARE great guns. youre going to get a pretty biased opion however, i mean look where you are posting this. anyway, recommended upgrades: RT/X valve, level 10, intelliframe, ULE body, ULE trigger(whenever it comes out, hehe), and nitro

Differnt people have differnt opinons. If you asked on a autococker fan site you would be flamed for even asking if it was good. I think it is the best midranged gun you can get. And with a X-valve+intelli, and other upgrades it is IMO one of the best guns you can buy.

I took "limited budget" to mean, well, not much money coming in at a spurattic flow, so I'm not sure if things like x-valve/ULE stuff is really feasible (sp??)... I would personally suggest level 10, maybe a new trigger/frame. Maybe a new barrel, but I wouldn't worry about that yet unless it causes a problem.

Automags are sweet, I'll be gettin a mag just as soon as I've got the money. Good luck with yours!!

          Question

In the fall i will probably have $350-$400. Can you put x-valve and level 10 bolt on at the same time? It doesn't come with a barrel or bottomline does it?

          Thanks

X-Valve comes STOCK with the level 10 system. (Bolt, springs and oring carriers.)

And yes, the gun is very reliable.

              How is that possible

The level 10 bolt is like $85 and the x valve is like $320 or somewhere close.

Whats a good expansion chamber for it?

              Thanks

                automag on a budget....

First off, automags are a great gun that are easy to maintain, fix (not normally needed), and upgrade. Most upgrades are drop in and go. Second, if you don't mind going used, you can pick up a really nice classic automag on the Classified forums here, or even Ebay. That will save some money to start with. Third, use the gun you get to see what you think should be upgraded on your budget. All the new upgrades are great, but a classic is pretty good right out of the box.

Things to look for IMO if you go used:
                1) Trigger guard. Alot of fields will not let you play without one. Alot of the old ones cut the trigger guard off for the double trigger.
                2) Motorized hopper. If it doesn't come with one look to get one soon. This is deffinetly worth the money.
                3) After market barrel. Depending on who you ask, you will get different answers on what barrel you should get.
                4) N2/HPA. Not a must right at first, but is a great upgrade. Make sure the tank is still in hydro. This is required before you get a RT/X valve.
                5) Powerfeed vs. classic body. I prefer the powerfeed myself.
                6) Expansion chamber. A great upgrade to keep CO2 out of your valve.

After you get your automag and do a little research you will know what upgrades you want.

P.S. The X Valve comes the the level 10 upgrade.

                Hope this helped.

if your going to opt for a new one get this for sure http://store.yahoo.com/actionvillage/010-1012-1.html
you have the bottomline and everything all set up and the barrell you get is good so you wont have to upgrade unless you want to....ever (its not the best barrell in the world bu definitly good enough for recreational use). after u get that all you need is a tank and hopper.
                  gun - $270
tank - $80 just get a cheap screw in preset nitro.....i got a PMI 48 CI)
                  12 volt revvy - $45
that adds up to $395.....which was in your price range......thats a good.....brand new set up......think about it......hope this helped. (by the way you can get the loader and tank from that website too! PaintballGear.com is the best

                    Re: automag on a budget....

If you are getting the X-Valve- YOU CANNOT RUN CO2. Therefore, you don't need an Expansion chamber.

Just an FYI- the level 10 system is a bolt, spring and a few other small parts. You can't just take the bolt and put it on a non-Level 10 gun.

The X-valve comes with the Level 10 system installed, but not tuned. (Takes too long at the factory for that.)

That is why I stated that "MOST" upgrades are drop in.
As for the CO2, I stated that HPA was required for RT/X Valve. I was just giving BJL31Paintball some options to look at. Because not all of us can afford HPA right off the bat. So, using CO2 to start, I recomended using an expansion chamber. As for the X Valve needing to be tuned, I'm sure before someone spends the $300, they will do a little research and find out what they need to, in order to set it up correctly

You'd think so... However, I can't tell you how many people drop their X-Valve in and it won't shoot and come into tech crying about it.

nitro isnt really needed at first, but it helps so much. IMO, it can do more for accuracy than buying an expensive barrel over a cheaper barrel (provided you have a good paint/barrel match) I would say, if possible get nitro as among your first upgrades, along with a decent barrel, lvl 10, and a revvy.
