    Micromag: Heavy foregrip?

It seems that the foregrip (its a gasthru) on my micromag2000 is VERY heavy. It is alluminum, but it seems like it has steel inside of it. It is very dense. I can see a steel screw on the bottom of it, but I'm not sure what is really in it. Since it is a gasthru, i wouldn't think there would be anything in it besides alluminum.

Anyone know for sure? Any other micro owners found an alternative? I know you have to use the PTP ASA, and a lot of you have put on other foregrips such as KAPP on that ASA, but I really like the look of the PTP foregrip..Just why is it so heavy? And anyone have any other suggestions.

I'm sure my whole gun, xvalve and all will weigh about the same as my foregrip, so you can see why I'm concerned. I wish i had a picture of my setup on a balance.

    Thanks.

    its really an expansion chamber

take the screw off on the bottom and gut it of all the metal disks and then re-assemble it w/o the disks in it

then it will be MUCH lighter, and you will also have one hell of an air chamber for rapid firing (less drop off w/ higher air flow)

ps: the disks inside are steel, thats why its so heavy

Thanks! That is exactly what I was looking for?

Is it pretty easy to do or can you give me a little bit more detailed explanation. Never opened an expansion chamber up.

I had a gas thru on mine and it was pretty heavy too. Never really found a solution, they're thick. Just needed something there to grip more than I needed the weight reduction. Maybe someone could mill out the inside for you?

Eh..its not that big of deal to me..I'm kinda like you Bulldog, I really need a foregrip and it just looks so much better than the 2 piece (ASA + KAPP) that other micro owners have.

I'll take out those disks and see how that helps.

          Thanks for the posts.

Will do. Yeah it was tough to sell it. But here's why:

Paintball Talk is the main forum for Automags.org. Here is where we talk about the sport of paintball in general and make announcements relating to the forum and website.

And the pewter's gonna look sweet

the disks will be held in place with some thick o-rings... they may be a bit crusted over, so you may need to take a dowel and push through or hit the dowel with a hammer

but its pretty simple to do, just make sure that everything seals correctly when you put it back together

How does this thing open up? I'm not sure if it is an expanision champber or a gasthru, but its real heavy. Came stock on a Micromag (vert feed) 2k RT. How does it open up? Does the bottom open up somehow? I dont see where it could unscrew, plus I coudln't get the screw on the bottom to budge! I put a lot of pressure on it and wd40 overnight and it stil wont budge..how does this thing open up so i can gut it?

you gotta really work at it with the allen wrench... possibly take a flame to it to melt the loc-tite inside to help loosen it

but get a cloth and double it over and put in a vice, tighten it as hard as you can, and then go at it with the allen wrench again... make sure its a long allen wrench so taht you can get some good leverage
