I need advice on Whether to buy an Automag

Well guys the fact is I love paintball, if I could play it everyday I would but I cant, its just to expensive and seeing that I have no income ( I am a student and have no job) this is bringing thoughts into my head. Should I get a new AGD marker when I Only go Several times per year? Am I wasting my money buying something that I will use maybe once every 2 or 3 months? So I am asking you, try and help me with my descision. Is there anyone in this forum that is like me, that owns an automag and only plays once and a while? Did you regret your descision in buying an automag? Does it hold up against long periods of sitting in the closet? Is it doing the gun justice? Thanks In advance.

i would suggest looking in the for sale forums, great deals on great guns. the great thing about mags is that you can buy them used and they still work. they are hard to kill, unless you try.

it will hold up against long periods in the clost, you should take it out and ooil it every once and a while tho. just dont put heavy stuff on top of it. you can throw a mag against a tree and it will still fire.

I love mags have two myself and am probably going to get flamed for this but it's just my advice. Only playing that much with at limited income you may want to look into a Tippman. To answer your questions never regretted owning a mag, there was a recent post about a mag sitting in a closet for about seven years being fitted with new o-rings and lubed and ran fine after that. This is just my advice if your budget is limited. Mags are indeed amazing guns.
anyone who tells you there are no such things as stupid questions is lying to you so they can laugh at your questions.

Even if you don't get out very often, a mag is a great gun to have around. First off, I'd head over to the classifieds, think someone already mentioned it, but it is an excellent place to fine a great gun and not pay retail for it. Next, if you buy your mag in the classifieds, I can almost guarentee that should you have to seel it for whatever reason that you will be able to, right back here on the classifieds. I know from experience.

The other amazing thing about mags is their construction. Right now my mag (backup) has a valve put out in 1995 (originally purchased then). It is still functioning amazing. Your thing about closets, There is nothing short of a sledge hammer that will hurt your mag. (Unless you are an idiot)

I am pretty much in the same situation as you magal, but i personally wouldnt suggest a mag, you need a nitro tank, you need to oil them everytime you play, and they are kinda pricey if u want a nice one, i would suggest a piranha por ts if you want a good marker, they are great, no matter what all of these people say, for your purposese i would suggest either the pro ts or the piranha E force pro sts 2k3, which is like 170 shipped at http://store.yahoo.com/actionvillage/010-5075-2.html my cousin bought the pro ts and it is awsome, in any price range, and i had the sts for a while and it was also pretty good. trust me, i know EXACTLY where yur coming from.

oh by the way i have a mag players package for 250 for sale, and also you can NOT run co2 on a mag WHATSOEVER without an expansion, and still not great even with one, they freeze up an need fixed if you do so and fire moderately fast. (contact me if u are interested in my mag package)

well sell the tippy and the spyder and get a mag with nitro
once you go hpa you'll wonder how you ever went without...
and once you go mag you'll wonder why you've played with the tippy and spyder for so long

                      and don't worry
                      mags last forever

If you are worried about Co2 and can't afford nitrogen I would invest in a nice expansion chamber and anti-siphon tube for your Co2 tank. When I first got my mag I couldn't afford a nitrogen tank so I used an anti-siphoned Co2 tank and expansion chmaber, worked just fine! Although with nitrogen you will see a HUGE performance increase.

You can't go wrong with a mag.. but since you don't go play very often only buy it if you think the rentals you use arn't doing it for you..

*bows head* There have been times wehre my mag sat idle for a full year. they handle storage well.

If you like the gun, you will never regret buying a mag. If they break, the fix is at most $20, and unless you've shot a few skids of paint the problem is most likely an o-ring, wich is part of the parts kit that all mag owners should pick up when they buy their gun.

Get the mag, a parts kit, and a barrel to match the paint you'll be shooting and you'll be set for life :-)
