Scepter owners, I have a test for you.

I just got a new 12" all aluminum scepter from topchoice paintball for my viking (2k3 I believe), marveled at how nicely the inserts go in and out, but didn't much care for the vaguely phallic front half of the barrel. So I tried a 10" J&J tip I had around from an old mag 2 piece and it worked perfectly. I took the gun outside and test fired it with both tips with no discernable difference (this wasn't scientific or anything, I just wanted to see if bad things happened with the J&J tip). This is cool, and I'll be using the J&J tip for now anyway, but if I could get an All American tip on there and use it without problems I would grab one of those to put on in a heartbeat. So, scepter owners, what other tips can you find that fit and work on your scepter back?

^^^^ No, but supposedly powerlyte is making the scepter availible to mags.

That and everybody's buying ULE bodies, plus the few SFL's and CnC's out there. Plus the people that have more than one gun, or don't even have a mag, or got rid of their's but still check the forums. I've seen more than a few scepters on pics posted here, so the choice wasn't exactly completely illogical. Though upon review, I admit it is a little ironic.

I also noticed YOU have cocker threads, Farnja!

can you still order these? Just wondering since I like the JJ fronts and the fact that I can get them in a 10inch.

You know this is very ironic and timely. I was pondering this very question today! However I had not tried to see of the Scepter back would thread onto the Edge kits front yet. I was in fact going to try it! So this sounds like it is indeed the same threads! I gonna confirm this tomorrow for myself. And you know I wonder now what other tips might interchange. This could open up a whole new set of possibilities if some or even all of them would. Can you imagine a All American Freak front on a Scepter or and Edge? Lets see what we can find out here.

                  The real deal

Ok...here is what I see. My J+J tip from the Edge kit has the same threads and fits BUT!...the meeting flange angles are different. This tip bottoms out in the threads on the Scepter back before the tip oring makes contact with the back. I think it will be ok to do this, just dont honk down on the barrel too too tight or you are gonna bend the Scepter insert and ruin it. Just my 2...

spunds like you could shave just a bit of the edge tip and it will fit just like a scepter?

I tried my CP 2-piece front, but it didn't work. Someone try a System X clear tip, those are the coolest front pieces.
