    Eggsactly

If it has a silver toggle switch then it is a Y-board.

i wonder what the real changes in the y-board are...

it would be cool if they made the eye sense a change in state (reflective) so that it saw the balls bobble, instead of looking for a complete blank....

Natham Greenman from VL/BE stated that the Y-board changes were 'just' a new switch (which was the main problem they were trying to fix) and the cleaning up of lots of jumper wires which had been required when the reworked the Evo 1 boards were used for the Evo 2.

He made posts saying so over on PBN.

Oh and if they do the boot will be on the other foot with OPP in the lawsuit... as that is one of the things that OPP have patents on...

Maybe that's what BE/VL were setting them up for? A little scratch our back,we let you out of the settlement(what ever it was beside payment). I hear that they will have an X Board for the Egg around the end of the year.To be any real improvment they would have to eliminate the delay caused primarily by the eye system/design.I don't think speeding up the motor will help to much. With out any "slack" in the design,(read spring tension)it would likely just break or jam balls.

                Hmm.

so why did they claim the increase in feed rate?

                    hrm...

it seems to me the same goal could be accomplished by using an array of three eyes, spaced within .68", and offset slightly. then have the board look for a state change from any of the three eyes. this would pretty well simulate one reflective eye.

Manike is correct...I too have talked to a few guys at BE...the code changed a little to free up more memory with the new board and the switch changed...thats about it

VL/BE didn't as far as I am aware. It was all started via people on the net claiming them to be faster/better, and Nathan seems to be very happy to go along with other's claims as a byproduct of what they did...

You'll notice VL/BE didn't change the packaging to talk about any better feed rates etc. But that may be just because they had older style packaging to use up? I don't know, maybe Kevmaster does?

Nathan has been saying that the X-board will be better though.

I've read through N8's post also.He seems to believe that the Y board MAY be 1 to 2 balls faster depending on how fast your current Egg is, do to the cleaner wireing and less voltage loss through resistance and so called "clutter".

'Course BE/VL officially says a "Y" board doesn't exist, the currently produced board is just the currently produced board w/ some running changes.

tats one of the big things...BE didnt want to market this as a new advancement in the Eggo Technology...Terry tells me this was designed to be a running change they would just put in the Eggo II's they were making...then demand for this seemingly better board came out and so, they figured...if the customer wants to buy it for $30...why the hell not?

'cause they likely have an X board soon to released and they "could" be honest about it and not take $30 from some young kid now and then hope to take $30 from him later after marketing a product stated as the "fastest loader available today" as per my packaging, which then was half the price of a HALO which after $79+$30+$30+shipping x 3 = HaloB and 6 batteries at Wally world.

                              Jay.

                              P.S. I still like mine.
