AO: We are back from the dead... again! After an 18 day outage, we are finally alive and well. Who knew how complicated updating software/databases from 2008 would be. I still have alot of tweaks to make, but my main goal was getting everything patched and updated to 2026.
Vbulletin 6 has changed alot since 2008 so we will have a ton of new features to dig into.
Money for College (no, no putting your address at spot #6 on the list)
There is interest in direct support of the program. Solid interest.
As far as 501(c)3 goes -
We're 501(c)3 now. But we do NOT yet have our letter of exemption from the IRS (filing deadline is in December). The end result is that you CAN give us money now, and you CAN deduct it off your taxes (which will only matter if you itemize and your total deductions are over the standard deduction) BUT if the IRS decides later that we're not really 501(c)3 they could come back to you and say 'Hey, you still owe us taxes on that.'
So, hey, if you want to throw some cash into the scholarship pool, I won't say no.
Regardless, this is just the first run. I'd expect a much more substantial effort for next year.
500 bucks can buy all your books..I heard you have to buy so many expensive books either off the school or off the students which will in return probaly rip you off

I do itemize quite a bit over the standard deduction! When you get your IRS papers, please let us know. I am sure that you'll see more dollars then. Heck, everyone who owns a home on AO probably itemizes more then the standard deduction, so that IRS letter is key!
Ladies ladies, can't we all get along and just forget donating your money to the college fund when my relatively empty pockets are so close to your bickering mouths and overstuffed wallets?
Heheheh juuuust kidding
Sounds like a great idea. I'd apply (hello drexel in the fall!), but I don't really meet the criteria as far as doing things in my community. Besides, I'm sure there are those are need it more than I do.
