yeah, but this isn't adult tv. you have a very easily impressionable target audience. so showtime, something actually needs to be said about it this time.
Shhh...I have a....cocker...

I'm not concerned that it will deter potential patrons from playing (say that 3 times fast
) but rather that people will use paintball guns to vandalize and threaten people, or play in their back yard without any facial protection, then get their eye shot out and go crying in court for thier state to ban this evil sport called paintball for taking out their eye.

I also saw that same show. I was a bit disturbed with how they portrayed the sport to be. Sure, it looked "fun" and all, but the disregard for safety blew me away. Yes, kids are easily impressionable and the light heartedness in which the show presented the sport can make it seem harmless. Who cares if kids play outside in their backyard, no one is going to get hurt right? WRONG!
When I saw that, I just shooked my head. The good thing is, yes, it can spark interest in the sport and bring new players in. It's more than likely those new players will play on fields that enforce the safety rules and they'll learn it that way.
My only worries are the few who do go and aren't told about safety rules or consequences from playing without safety equipment. Who cares if they hurt one another? Maybe they deserve it since they're so stupid. However, that doesn't guarantee that they might not hurt someone else with a missed shot.
Bottom line, safety first. But it's network television so who the hell cares?

I understand exactly how you feel but right now your preachin to the choir.(sp?) What needs to be done is that you need to find out some sort of mailing address and send them a letter. Not to threaten them but just inform them that it is unsafe,(not to mention unlawful). Now maybe just your one letter wont change anything but if we all stand up then some show is gonna think next time..."hmm is this one scene worth me dealing with all the mail? Nahh". Doing something about it is the only way to change it.

Actually, on Jackass I saw them use goggles when they did their wild west style showdowns, not so sure about when Johnny was tied to the target and let everyone shoot him though, so at least even the idiots on Jackass are concerned about their own health.
Maybe someone can PM me why my sig was tampered

Im gonna have to agree with the earlier post of, who cares. Paintball is what? the second biggest extreme sport or somethin? Most of the people watching the Disney channel are probably 8 or 10 years old anyway. I dont think they are actually hurting the sport. They were just using paintball equipment, not actually playing the sport.
Remember the movie 3 Kings? They strapped bombs to footballs and blew them up, did that hurt the sport of football any? How many times have u heard of people using baseball bats or golf clubs as weapons? People arent making the sport look bad, they are just making the equipment look powerful.

I'm just curious:
Are you equally angry to see Vin Diesel ram his weenie little eclipse into another car on a public road, "misrepresenting" racing everywhere across the globe?
How about having Arnold blast a shotgun into someone's chest from 1 foot away, in a blatant "misrepresentation" of hunters, trap shooters, and skeet lovers the world over?
I remember watching a movie several years ago where an escaping inmate buried a running skilsaw into a gaurds chest. As a building contractor, should I be worried about the bad image portrayed by the actor, perhaps hurting my business because of an inaccurate portrayal. I think Mel Gibson shot someone in a movie with a nail gun once.
Nail guns are still around.
Obviously, you are sincere. If you really want to improve the image of paintball, then don't be a pimp, thug, gangsta paintball wannabe, and if you ever see evidence of paintball related vandalism, be sure to stop what you are doing and clean it up the best of your ability. If you see a person's property defiled, go introduce yourself as a paintball player, relate how disguted you are to see thier property damaged, and offer to clean it up. That will do way more good to the sport than all the Disney movies combined could do to harm it.

But in CKY, They ambush Bam's dad in a parking lot with Bams tippy. Not only endangering Bams dad but eveyone around them too. MOST people wouldn't do it. But lot's of people have copied it in different forms. People think it's just funny and will do it themselves.Originally posted by Can_Opener

Not nessesarily true. Lot's of people just go to Canadian tire(K-mart for you in the US) and buy a blade or talon from their. They see the masks, but they have the same disregard for safety equipment that most people do in other sports and don't bother paying the 70 bucks for a mask(yes, at the canadian tire near me the only mask they have costs 70 bucks! and a talon is 50) that they don't think they need. The good thing is, yes, it can spark interest in the sport and bring new players in. It's more than likely those new players will play on fields that enforce the safety rules and they'll learn it that way.
That's where 99% of injuries happen and 90% of public perception is derived from cuz the kids that buy markers from canadian tire don't bother going anywere far from other people and play in their little 500sq foot backyard in plain view of other people. While the people that play real pb are off way away from the public eye.
The media does have a very negitive affect on PB. but so far their havn't been any widespread ban's on PB so were fine for now. If anything does happen that's when we actualy have to do somehing. Micky might be a "head" shorter after i'm done with him.
