not many places seem to carry them. so far i have found these two sites.

also, is an excaliber better then an viking, or is the only difference that it is closed bolt?

The Excal and the Viking have some small advantages over eachother, but fire essentially the same. By design, the Excal is noticeably different, as it uses 2 solenoids and works in a closed bolt fashion. The Viking is capable of cycling faster and is cheaper, these of course are it's strong points over the Excalibur. The Excal however cycles a little smoother and is a little easier on paint. Those are about the only differences.

i see. i guess excaliburs aren't as popular but i always wondered why it seemed like people recommend the viking so much. also, what is a good price to pay for an unmilled one, about 750$?

AKA lists the MSRP at $775, but you should be able to find them for about $750. I think colors other than black cost extra.

          Heres where I got mine:

          www.selectpaintball.com

The price was $760 shipped for an unmilled black. It had the new WAS board and was pre-drilled for the WAS eyes. They had it to me 3 days after I ordered it.

I do not think the small advantages of the Excalibur justify the price premium over the Viking, unless money is of no concern. I shot my Viking last weekend, and I could easily stay happy with just it.

They are pre-tapped for eyes? Why couldn't they just throw one in there the actual eye itself isn't that much I thought.

i think with the vikings, there is no means to hold the eye in, like the impys and cockers.

i think it is up to you to find a way to old the eyes in. I could be wrong though. but, if this is the case, I would think they do that so they are not responsible for the damage of the eyes if they way they put it in should "fail" for some reason.

                actualy,

JmJ is suposedly got the eye covers ready to sell, and willbe releasing them this week at the IAO.

As well, it looks like Jim from WAS will also be releasing eye covers to go with there Boards, eyes, and switches.

My understanding about AKA not shipping with the eyes, is that they didn't have eye covers, and had no plans in designing them at this point. They where to leave the eye covers as an aftermarket part, for custom shops to make.

Thats jsut my 2cents, and hope it all helps.

The new solenoids promote slightly better efficiency and make the break in period shorter, they come stock on all new Vikings now at no extra cost.

The Wicked Switch is a lighter trigger microswitch made by WAS, it cuts down the switch activation from 80 grams to 25 grams (same switch used in a Matrix)

The eyes can be plugged right into your board (if it's a WAS board), and the breech is drilled for them already. The only thing you have to do besides plugging them in is making a small hole in your tray to slide the wires through.

This new found popularity in Vikings is making me a little frustarted to be honest. I've been wanting one since just about when they came out, but only during the Summer do I have time to save money. Now, when I finally have the money for one, people are buying them out from all the online stores that carry them. The worst part is I know a lot of these people (I know not all of them) will probably own theirs for a few months then sell it off.

www.dbnpaintball.com They have generally good prices, and I think the owner is a mod at the PBnation AKA forum, and is on there quite often. Not positive, but I think his sn is actionjunkie.

Yes, ActionJunkie is a mod on pbn but he also is one of the 5 master techs for AKA.

His prices on the vikings are good, and he can hook you up with all the cool toys.

I beleive he is away this week at teh IAO, but drop him an email , he answer it asap.
