E mag vs. X mag ???

I would like the opinion of any one who has used both the E mag and the X mag.

I have been doing my home work on this site so please don't waste time by repeating the basic differences that are common knowledge.

Suggested comment area's.
Accuracy differences? (real or hype)
Feel and balance.
Realistic performance differences.
Availability/stock?

Personel comments. I don't mind the yellow pin on the E-mag. I love the stock barrel on the E-mag. The ACE seems to be mostly redundent with the LX and a good loader (egg or halo). Much of the weight loss can be acheved after market. I know you guys are passionate about your work and are proud your of the X-mag. It just seems to me that the E-mag is basically just about the same thing but with a better barrel.

Feel and balance. The sfl feels so much more balanced then my emag was, not so much of a tank feel and its easy to run around with
Realistic performance differences. Not really, aside from the ACE they are still fairly the same marker on the inside
Availability/stock? - If you want one its worth the wait, probably be able to get a regular emag faster


I personally have used the ACE on my sfl like once... There are little things that put the Xmag up in front like removable breech, the marker is lighter, cocker threads (of course ule body)....

The main differences are: the style, the swapable breach system, and ACE. The E-Mag can have a Stainless body for classic twistlock barrels or a ULE warp or vert veed and accept cocker threaded. The valve, electronics and battery are the exact same in both.

Any accuracy issues would be barrel specific, not E vs X mag specific.

Since the basic geometry of the marker doesn't change, the feel and balance should not be all that different.

ACE will add some reliability. And the X-Mag boards are capped at 20bps (vs E-Mag's 16). Same board, different software.

As TK has said, the X-Mag is for those that want the top of the line, signature AGD marker. If you feel that the cost or wait is not worth it, go with an E-Mag.

Personally, I like the lines of a ULE bodied E-Mag slightly better than an X-Mag. So that's what I went for. That's not to say the X-Mags aren't dead sexy, I just like the cleaner lines of the ULE body and valve combo.

as its been stated: the differnce is LOOKS. The X-Mag looks cooler and sexier. There is a slight performance advantage (removable breech--but who really changes breeches day to day and ACE--but I've never even turned it on) but looks are the only physical advantage over the Emag. That and its much rarer than the Emag

I used both, now own the Xmag. The balance of the Xmag is remarkable, if i remember correctly the emag wasn't very well balanced. Accuracy, same.

So obvious stuff that was already pointed out is cocker threads, removeable breech, ACE, looks and balance. I would say the Xmag is worth the extra money and the wait.

Oregon_pb_ have you used a ULE bodied Emag? I can't see how the balance would be much differnt at all. The ULE bodied emag even weighs marginally less than an X-Mag.

I've used both. In all honesty the only real difference is the looks. I like the looks of the X-Mag over that of the E-Mag and that is why I own a X-Mag. Both guns shot the same and felt the same (ULE E-Mag). I think it comes down to your own personal preference. Hope that helps!

So, to a person who isn't too picky on looks, and already has a pre-order for the X-Mag, sounds like a ULE E-Mag would be the way to go if they were way down on the pre-order list... So do the new E-Mags already come with the ULE body and/or trigger or is that still an upgrade I get to pay for separate?

well maybe if you took a bit more meat off of the battery pack and breech block... THEN the x-mag might still be the lightest


look at the PTP battery packs... then look at an x-mag pack

the PTP one has considerable more material removed... AND the receiver is milled too

once i get an x-valve and ULE trigger frame... it shall defeat you all!

Thank you for the comments. Much of what was said I already believed to be true, but I wanted it to be varified or corrected.
Personally for me I like the look of the ULE's better. Its less flashy but more pure. I'm a center feed only type do to being able to play equally well with both hands. I absolutely love the stock E-mag barrel (aside from wanting another 3 inches added for sighting purposes).

The question for accuracy stems from the whole debate of twist lock vs. screw in barrels.

haven't used a ULE, so can't comment there. But i didn't say anything about weight, i don't care if the Xmag is 1 lb or 5lb's. I want a gun that is well balanced, 5lb's would just save me a few minutes off my workout at the gym.


Had a Viking but decided Xmag cause i like the Trigger on emags and the looks on the Xmag.


Plus i'm willing to bet at 98% of the games i go to with the Xmag it will be the ONLY one there. THats worth the extra $$ right there, for me anyway.
