    'Kila' Magnetic Detents - Review!

Had a tournament on Sunday which was my first with the new ULE body on my E-mag. I'd heard plenty of horror stories about 'normal' plastic-ball detents being blown out the barrel and the ball on mine seemed to stick in more than it popped out, so I spent $25 on one of Kilaueakid's new magnetic detents (details and pics here: http://www.automags.org/forums/showt...threadid=93558).

Turned up well packaged with the detent itself, a selection of different sized o-rings and some detailed instructions about how to install properly.

Took me about 5 minutes to fit properly - first installation with only a single o-ring caused the piston to bottom out when the bolt went past, so I stuck on a slightly thicker o-ring and voila! job done.

...but the proof of the pudding is in the eating, so off I went to play on Sunday and.....

    It worked great!

I was running a DYE Ultralite barrel and as I'm on a money-saving kick at the moment I was using all the old odds and ends of paint that I had left around at home - about 4 or 5 different colours of Zap - normal, Chronic and AMP.

In all I fired about 2500 paint and the detent worked like a champ, no double feeds, in fact not a single problem with my entire gun, no breaks and no chops (plus I actually heard my level 10 work for the first time ever! Was firing a long string of paint when suddenly 'psssschhuck' - a slight pause and then off it went again, great!)

If you've had problems with your angel-style detents in the past, I'd definitely recommend trying one of Kila's magentic detents.

Shweet. I'm going to meet him sometime this week probably and check out two detents for the Chord sluggo. The angel ones look like a direct hit could break the dang things. Plus with the magnetic/aluminum they can be matched/annoed to the body color.
