Viking and E-Mag Questions?

I want a new gun and I've narrowed it down to either a viking, or a ule emax.

I won't have the chance to shoot either so I was wondering if someone could describe how each one shoots.

The emag: in mech/hybrid modes, is it more like a normal mag? And how is the pull in electro? Short, crisp, or a full range of adjustments. Does it have any kick?

And could someone answer the same about a viking?

How big of a range is there in trigger pull adjustments.

I really wish I could shoot them, but I cant, because there arent any local ones.

If anyone could help me out, who has shot both, or either, I would really appreciate it.

And if someone could compose maybe a list of pros/cons, it would really help my desicion a lot. And please dont just say, viing or emag. I'm making the desicion, not you.

I've shot both. I had an emag, now I have a Viking.

To answer your first question, the Viking can have its trigger set for return strength (by cutting the spring) and the trigger travel (by setting the screw in the trigger). The emag trigger is more easily adjusted, and has a wider range of settings.

I preferred the Viking for the following reasons:

-I had trouble walking the trigger on the emag. Out of the box, I was ripping on the Viking.
-Viking is WAY more efficient, to the tune of 2K shots off a 68/45 once its broken in.
-Lifetime warranty on mechanical parts, and lifetime on the WAS equalizer board. This is superior to the "stars" program AGD offers
-Reliability-AGD is good. AKA (Viking's builder) is also very good.
-WAS board. Excellent electronics, are what the higher-end timmys have. Jim Drew, who designs the boards, has said the Viking can cycle FASTER than the timmys.
-Type 3 anno, much stronger and more scratch resistant than convetional anno
-ACE (eyes) are a $20 upgrade!!!!
-No major upgrades necessary, or even available. Reg, valve, and bolt are among the best made. Nothing to upgrade to. Only upgrades are the eyes, wicked switch ($9), sticky grips, and the must-have Halo.

That having been said, the Emag may work better for you. Best bet it to try em both. I did, and I preferred the Viking.

Oh, forgot the cons:

-Looks somewhat brick-like, but you get used to it.
-Reannoing it voids the warranty
-Halo ($120) is a must have to use it at full potential
-taller than the emag

Thats about it. Viking uses cocker barrel threads, BTW.

Grayso, they are both amazing markers, they are both fast and both insane, but their triggers are really too different to compare. BOth are highly adjustable etc.


now, i saw your post on PBN and you had said that you had owned mags before, and it was a pleasant experience, so i reccomend you continue with what you appear to be happy with. You can always try a viking at your local field, an e mag may be harder to come by.


It also appears that steerart is biased, as he included more info about the viking than the e mag in his comparrison. Really, i say consider the prices, consider if you will be hapy with it, and consider that your willing to give it anopen mind and play with the gun and settings for a while, brefore you give them away in a trade and above all, make the purchase which you seem happier with

I can say..i have held a viking...and i the trigger frame take a lot of gettin used to. The trigger seems to sit too far back...and i don't know..just doesn't feel comfortable to me

i have an e-mag...and i find it easy to tune as far as trigger goes. Level 10 is easy to tune. YOu can get and morlock board for the e-mag. Pretty nice board ups the bps and adds several modes. ALL ULE is pretty light. I have one. I love it. If your electronics go down (not to say the viking are going to go down) but you ahve that mechanical backup. and at a flip of a switch you are back in the game ripping away

Well, of course I am biased. He asked for pros and cons, I gave him the pros and cons of the Viking. I left it to someone else to do the same for the emag.

The trigger on the Viking does tilt back a little. Best bet is to immediately buy a razor trigger.

In my opinion, the Emag represents an earlier generation of marker than the Viking. The Xmag is more representative of current AGD technology.

But since I have been accused of bias, heres my take on the Emag:

Pros:
-low profile
-easily upgradable
-rugged, and has mech backup mode
-trigger can be sweet-spotted
-AGD quality
-Trigger is very adjustable
-Level 10
-Rare
-Potentially light, with the right ULE pieces

Cons:
-Heavy with the older pieces
-hard to walk the trigger (for me, at least)
-Air hog-trust me, its not even in the same league efficiency-wise as the Viking
-Complexity of level 10. I know how to use it, but it can be a complex and troublesome system

I've been reading alot about Vikings and looking at them. They seem to be really good guns. God I wish I had money.

I know this is a Viking/Emag question, but I've owned 2 Emags (SFL and a Warp Feed) and a Timmy and went with the Timmy. (I know, not a Viking) What sold me on the Timmy was the trigger. I could never get it to how I wanted on the Emags, no matter how hard I adjusted it. I couldn't walk the trigger on the Emag either, but could with the Timmy. (With the Classic frame, and no changing/flipping of the switch) I wish there was someway to try out a Viking here where I live, but no one has them here. Mostly cockers and Angels.

I think I'm about to decide on the viking, but I was wondering abouta halo. Does it make the gun really tall? It looks like that even with a no rise, and no drop, that it's fairly tall in most pics. Is it much taller with a halo than with a 12 volt?

It isn't too tall, but then again, pretty much every gun is taller than the Mag to some extent. If you compare it to other guns, the Bushy, Imp, and Matrix are still taller though.

I was kinda comparing it to the cocker I have now. How tall are viking in comparison. And how tall is the halo in comparison to a revy, or an egg?

O and also, what colors do the standard vikings come in? Like the unmilled or half milled ones? I've only seen, black, blue and burgandy. I'd like a purple or a yellow one if they've got them.

Wow, we're in pretty similar positions. I'm also getting rid of my Cocker.... for a Viking. I have only seen the Excal in real life for comparison, and it's dimensions are pretty much the exact same as a Viking's. Honestly, I wouldn't worry about the hieght. It is a little taller, but just a little.

Black, blue, and burgundy are AKA's standard colors. You can order a raw one directly from them and get it anodized somewhere else though. Personally I want to get a stock blue or burgundy Viking, the matte black just doesn't match or contrast well with any barrels, drops, etc.

Ok. I may just get a burgandy one. Someone said that if I got it annodized it would void the warranty. It may have been on this thread. Is that true? Even if I get a raw one, and have it annoed?

I've been told that getting the anno taken off an AKA product, then putting on a new one, voids the warranty, but getting a raw one and having it anno'd maintains the warranty.

Its not that big at all. With my Halo and a no-rise clamping feedneck I feel like it presents a nice, small target. Look at my sig. Thats me with a Halo and the standard low-rise feedneck.

Get one, thats all I can say. You will not regret it.

Thats a SFL Emag (basically an X-mag) then RT Pro (right?) then the angel and impulse...

Since the viking is the same as the Viking, it should be about the same I would assume.
