Kinda wierd Warp Feed problem or observation

This Sunday when I got back into town and wanted to try out a Plastic Nubbin that Dubstar112 had sent me (see my post in the official classic nubbin thread about that). So I get everything set up and low and behold my Warp will not spin. It makes the whirly noise but the main drive will not turn. Put a fresh battery in and same thing.

Let em explain the situation though...

I had left the hopper full of paint as well as left the battery in the Warp the weekend before. I still had not installed the Warp Interface Cable either so I was still running on vibration sensor. (But I finished that Sunday during the process of fixing the warp and redrilling my Hopper as well).

Anyway...so I decide to take the whole thing apart and see what's up. As soon as I get the two sides apart it spins like no problem. Course all the balls inside the warp fall out. And low and behold I notice all of the balls have real flat spots on the sides they were touching each other in line in the Warp. So I can only surmise that they packed themselves together too tightly from the jostling around in the case on the trip back home (warp spinning around some I assume, as I left the battery in remember) and therefore they kind of jammed the main wheel by packing tightly together. Anyway I thought it might be good to relay that as I had not heard this anywhere before.

Ok...a kind of question as well: How many of you are using the E-Mag to Warp interface and left the jumper on to keep the vibration sensor as well? I am at this point but has anyone experienced problem with this? Pro's or Con's?

You're not suppose to leave the battery plugged in and paint in the feed wheel! Geez, anyone with some commnon sense knows that...

As for the jumper, there's nothing wrong with leaving the sensor jumper in place. The way it is right now from the factory is the way it should be for setting up interlink to the E-Mag. Should be:

    ..
    [..]
    [..]

The only thing I'd recommend doing is turning down the blue sensitivity pot all the way down. This helps save the battery life by basically cutting out the vibration sensor.

But nobody ever told me that!!!!! (actaully I didn't know the thing was full...Someone else was using it at the end of the day...however I was a bit lazy in not checking it after I got home and removing the battery as well. Lesson learned) Yes... well...thats exactly why I reported it as my stupidity can be everyone elses gain right? Thats why Tom keeps me around. To make everyone else look smarter. But hey! Now you all know why not to do that right? Flat packed balls are not a good thing right?

OK thanks on the pot thing. I did turn it down quite a bit. Seems to me the advantage would be if you ever went to Manual Mode and you would still have a working Warp right?

Well, in Manual Mode with the pin pulled on the battery you're in Hybrid Mode, so it's still going to send a signal to the Warp. Only when your battery dies will the Warp stop working with interlink, but we'd never let that happen now would we?

Uhhhh....perhaps...I mean if I can leave paint and a battery in my Warp for a whole week...who knows!

Real easy. Just take the four bolts lose and it will free right up.

But wait! You might also have a broken belt. Take off the black cover and make sure there's a rubber o-ring connecting the brass pulley on the motor to the black/white wheel driving the gear that spins the large ball wheel.

Ya...thats true he might. I forgot I had checked that first. But I was able to see through the side and see my belt looked intact.

SO if the motor makes noise but the feed wheel doesn't spin then the motor is probably just slipping on the o-ring drive belt? Sometimes the wheel wont slip past the balls and I'm very worried about burning out the motor.

Yes it seemed to be jsut slipping on the belt when its jammed like this. I am pretty certain it would eat the belt eventually though.

I had a similar problem with the wheel spinning fine without balls, but wouldn't do squat with balls. All I heard is the motor trying desperately to spin. It turns out that the fresh cheapo battery I was using wasn't strong enough. I popped in a name brand and it worked fine. Well, after I taped it to the 9v snap because the wires pulled out, but that's another story all together. One of these days I should go to Radio Shack and get a 9v snap and fix that....

As long as it doesn't hurt the motor. Getting a new o-ring is one thing but a new motor wouldn't be cheap.

Tom chose an inexpensive motor available at radio shack. Is not too bad if you burn the motor out.

i have caused so much slipping on my dyed black (at one point 18v.) ugly step shild warp that it actualy cut a pully in half but agd was very cool about it (just like every time I deal with them) and gave me a brass pully for it
