It is really preference. Some people can play tighter with drops, but to others it doesn't matter. Personally, I prefer as small (or no) drop as possible, I dislike the extra height and added weight.

I love having a big drop. It balances my gun out perfectly. Just see how you like it. If your gun feels really good and comfertable right now, you should be fine without one. But, if it's unballanced, I'd say go ahead and get one.

i USED to run HUGE drop forwards, then i went to a medium sized one, and now i'm gonna be using a Shocktech drop on my timmy (i've got short arms so i still need SOME kind of drop)

No drop is the way to go. Drops = history. Get a CP rail or a unimount, they pimp.

ive got a shocktech and i think its the medium one, [gotta check sometime] i like it cause it balances my gun fairly nicely but i like having the on off thing on the bottom og the drop cause it's alot easier in my opinion

Well with some people they might see a "pro" play without a drop and all of a sudden it's not cool to use a drop anymore
I think some people are like sheep and have to do whatever they see the "pros" doing.
It is really about what works for you and what is comfy to use.

I dont use a drop and i play front. Why because it makes the gun lower and drops make the gun feel funny.

EDIT: oh yeah and the pros use it that way.

Theres a trade off with this whole drop bussines...

                          No drop, discomfort, smaller profile...

                          Drop, comfort, taller profile...

Pros or rec you decide. In anycase your best bet, is to go to a shop and try different sizes to see what you like. If you play front and your willing to sacrifice the comfort/balance fro a small profile, go for it. If your a standup/back guy what ever.

How does no drop equal discomfort? I'd rather not have the back of my gun bumping my mask thank you very much. Not to mention many of the larger drops make you gooseneck your wrist and crane your neck back. Frankly, to me nothing is more comfortable than not using a drop.

What kind of fields do you play? If it is mostly SupAir or Ultimate air, i'd say go with no drop.
If you are playing hyperball, or in the woods, I think a drop is the way to go. Personally, i'm liking no drop more and more because the bottle creates a natural shoulder rest for me, as if I were shooting a rifle. Therefore it's more comfortable and I can steady the gun better which gives me a more consistant stream when I am ripping on the trigger.
