safe to fill your own tank?

i was wondering if it is safe to fill your own compressed air tank using a scuba tank?when i was welding i was told it was unsafe to fill smaller tanks with larger ones being they may heat up and blow up one you but i see alot of people doing it and nobody has blown up yet.thnx for any info

if you got a fill station it would be safe... get like a 3k one to fill a 4.5k tank... it'll stop automatically. then you can just ut it off and use it without worying... with those 4.5k fills you force it into the tank with a pump... one kid broke my valve putting too much into it

They are probably talking about gasses other than nitrogen or air. Yes filling other gasses like that could be dangerous, but with air unless there is some oil in the tank (it has happened) then nothing will blow up. And if your using nitrogen, then nothing could happen.

just one thing to remember if you ever do fill up your tank using a scuba, dont just open the valve quickly, open it slowly and fill the tank slowly

Where do you fill your scuba tanks with nitrogen?

It's not worth it to fill with nitro. It costs a lot more and doesnt give any better results than compressed air.

Nitrogen and compressed air are the same thing because compressed air (breathing air) is aprox. 70% nitrogen so in paintball the two terms are interchangeable... correct me if im wrong.

i meant as far as paintball goes... i have yet to find a gun that cant handle certain gasses commonly found in the air we breathe

a spyder se my bro has, simply wont work with compressed air, adjusted pressure to anything i could get it at, down to 100 up to 1000, it simply would not take hpa, changes bunch of spring combinations with different pressures, but nothing worked, but co2 it works great. i just dont understand it

No nitrogen is NOT a lot more expensive. It's like a dollar more than compressed air.

Nitrogen is also more consistent than compressed air so you will get better results.
