I went WRG games in '98 and '00 at Skirmish. While I believe that the management are probably nice people. Their reffing definitely had something to be desired. And as a matter of fact the players did have a lot of the 'tude.

I'll join Meph on that bet.

Whereas, at EMR/Shatnerball I had the exact opposite experience. Superb reffing and great players. I will definitely be going to another event at EMR.

I'm down with the Red vs. Blue idea! Miscue has a good point about advertising--similiar to Star Trek, it may draw in a different crowd. Definately suggest a field in central US, since pballers will travel, this would be ideal to reach all corners...Also agree w/ Muzikman on location being important. As much as we don't mind sleeping in tents or shacks, a nice hotel w/ a shower is very rewarding after a day of sweating and who feels like driving far after playing? Also (starbase is cringing)it was great having a few restaurants and clubs nearby, so we could hang out w/ our coolest AO buddies!! The refs at EMR have always been the best I've EVER encountered and good refs make for a great game!

On another note, this computer is so dang slow...

Anyone consider Hell Survivors in MI???

its a little more than an hour from a major airport, about half an hour from Ann Arbor (College town.. nuff said...).

they can handle the numbers, and have experience doing so (Michigan Monster game for how many years now?) and their refs are used to doing scenarios.

        solid store near the field...

        hotels within reach...

and for us on AO, the Detroit area has a pretty good sized AO group, with myself and Datapimp within 45 minutes for BBQ...

HS is actually a very do-able location I'd think. Only a couple hours from Chicago so Mancow can plug it like crazy for the locals. An overall gigundous field that's quite fun to play on. And sort of centrilized for both east/west coast players. I would like to see it within the middle, even if it's in Texas!

And Dayspring, I'll have to shoot you a PM one of these days about Skirmish. I don't want to make a list here, it's off topic.
