    My little idea...

hey everyone. this doesnt really have much to do with automags, but i was just pondering ideas for new gun designs... one thing i thought of is like a triangle stack gun that would be really fast but also have to be electro.

alrigth, it would have one tube on the top for the bolt, and 2 tubes on the bottom, for 2 hammers and valves. it would be blowback design and look somewhat like an angel with the wide bottom stack. there would be one hammer on each side, each one actuated by a firing solenoid when the trigger was pulled, except the solenoids would alternate actuating the hammer so one hammer would fire, then the other, and repeating like this during rapid fire. anyone catching on here yet?

alright, the bolt would have 2 external grooves with a small wall facing twards the barrel where one of the hammers would catch it when actuated, then it fire, and be recocked, and the process would repeat itself, except with the other hammer & solenoid. all this would be triggered by an electronic trigger and circuit board below the hammers much like the impulse or shocker, with a battery in the grip. the circuit board would have to be programmed to alternate firing each solenoid, and obviously one of the problems for this is it would have to be extremely precisely timed to prevent a sort of "short stroke" effect with the bolt which would chop paint.

basically what im seeing is a nasty typhoon with just one bolt and chamber with like i said the 2 hammers with solenoid valves to control the firing sequence with. heres an example of the firing sequence: trigger is pulled - circuit board is actuated - left solenoid valve sends a burst of air to the hammer - hammer is pushed forward & catches the bolt - hammer and bolt move forward which triggers the solenoid to release air up to the bolt - air enters the bolt & exits the front - ball is fired - bolt pushes back catching hammer - hammer & bolt move back to cocked position - cycle repeats itself using the right solenoid & hammer.

anyone envisioning what im saying here? i think it would be a really fast gun, but would take years to produce due to the many problems that could occur that would have to be smoothed out. there, thats my idea, can i have a cookie or something for thinking that intensly??? my brain hurts...

    THERE!!! HAVE YOUR STUPID PARAGRAPHS!!!

    that would be great

but what advantage would it have over any other paintgun? What would this gun do that another cant do already? wouldnt it cycle slowly? how much $$$ would it run. Is it really that feesable? and why would some one buy your product over another?

If your brain hurts after writing it, just imagine having to read it. They have these new things called paragraphs and capital letters. I've heard good things about them...

But seriously, you idea seems interesting. I just cant get through your whole post.

I don't think the pros of the design outweigh the cons.

It'll be too pricey because it's a new idea and this being a new idea it'll have a lot of flaws. The solenoids would need to find a new home because they both can't be in the gripframe and if you use smaller solenoids the system would be too inefficent and/or weak. I think the valve would need to be faster than an rt if the gun shoots at optimum rate which would probably be around mabye high 20's or low 30's. There would be a big chance the gun will shortstroke and you'd lose a lot of paint if the timing gets messed up in the middle of a game.

See what I mean? All you can really get with this idea is an innovative design, a maybe high firing rate if you're lukcy, and... uh.... uh... i dunno...

          .

            thanx for da info

hehe, yah sorry about it all being one big block, no paragraphs or whatnot, and thanks for your input,

i guess the solenoids would be next to the circuit board which is below hammers & above the gripframe, much like a shocker, i think if you could get that timing just right this gun could achieve a very high rate of fire, possibly above 30 rps? think about it its like shooting 2 impulses at once, but with one bolt, i think it would be very fast. just a little dream though, if your a company & u look at this its not like i have it patened or anything so go ahead and try it if you wanna collapse your buisness,

theres alot of truth that this would take a very long time and would have very many problems but it'd be pretty cool to see one if it ever exists

anyways keep givin me some info on what you think about it, or tell me some designs you though of yourself

oh, also by the way, it would have 2 valves, one for each side, like i said before, much like 2 blowbacks, just with one bolt, just pondering where the air would come from etc.

To have two solenoids in these two tubes on bottom, and to get sufficeint power, you would need pretty large solenoids with some large coils. about 3/4 of and inch across each. And, to have enough power, they would have to be large coil AC solenoids. Much like hte kind you see in those 115v powered putt returners. strong. big. large power source needed. not gonna work. its better to have the solenoid a smaller one in the grip frame that actuates the sear.
