    Help from No Va AOers?

Hey I am going home to Bethesda for COlumbus Day Weekend.

Wife is going to a shower on Saturday, I watch the kids. Thus I get Sunday off! I want to play PB. I have not been to Pev's at AG since the cheange over.

    What is up?

    Is it BYOP?
    Walk on sundays?
    Cost?
    Crowd type?
    Better place to go?
    Types of games?

    Thanks for the help!

      Hey there 1stdeadeye...

I saw this thread a day ago...but wasn't sure if I could help or not. I think that if Pevs doesn't have any specifics (like a big game) going on, I think its just normal walk-ons. Don't quote me on this...Rob will be able to answer any questions you have...call him at the Pev's Fairfax store at (703) 273-7732 and ask for Rob...that may help you out.

Is it BYOP? From what I know...yes...as long as you get it at a Pevs store (which there are several around the area) and have a reciept w/ you. This is a great advantage to other fields.
      Walk on sundays? Not sure
      Cost? Not sure
Crowd type? Unfortunately, my experience at Pevs hasn't been the greatest...where it seems unfriendly/people only care about how fast their markers shoot, etc. I admit I've only been there once, at it was at the big game in the snow lol...so maybe that didn't help. But I've talked to my friend who had been to the Pev's field more frequently...and he says the field layout and gameplay isn't that great, and that the atmosphere is all about winning, and the 'fun' aspect is lost. I kinda felt the same thing when I played there.

      Better place to go?

The other field around here is Hogback, which, from my experience at big games, is all about fun. Have had great great experiences there. The only downside is your required to buy field paint, which is usually $60 for some cheap leftover/old paint, and hardly anybody shoots a mag because most people there are of the mentality that mags are old/outdated. The atmosphere is more geared towards new players...but its still a ton of fun

Types of games? Honestly not too sure...I think pevs has some speedball fields, and Hogback has some castle/defend type stuff.

Get into the action at Pev's Paintball Park. Paintball is a game that can be enjoyed by all players starting ages 5+ No experience required, beginners welcome! Online reservations are available.

Hogback Mountain Paintball offers the best recreational paintball fields in Northern Virginia! Featuring 16 unique courses, low-impact paintball, special events, big games, birthday parties & more!

check out the links and see if any of that helps you out.

I think I can help out some:

Is it BYOP? Yes it is and no you don't have to buy it from a PEVS store either. I buy most of my paint online whenever I order upgrades.

Walk on sundays? Yes there are walk-ons on Sunday. I think the schedule is 9am-12pm for the morning game, 2 hour break and then a 2pm-5pm game

Cost? $15 for walkons, $35 for rentals. HPA is $1 for 1000psi and CO2 is $.25 for an ounce

Crowd type? Mostly recball people on the walkons with the occasional "I think I'm a big bad tournament player"

Better place to go? Pevs has been the only organized field I've been to. Since your in Maryland, oapaintball.com may be closer to you. Can't comment since I've never been to that one.

Types of games? Pevs has numerous fields including hyperball fields and attack/defend woods fields.

Anyways, Have fun whichever field you go to and I may possibley see you there

Rockville Pevs is a tad tricky to find tucked back in a stripmall

north on 355 past the Best Buy and the Landrover dealer

If you get to the light next to the VW dealer you have gone too far

                Pevs Rockville
                Edmonston Crossing Shopping Center
                1044 Rockville Pike
                Rockville, MD 20852
                (301) 738-3200

depending on traffic it may be quicker to blast up 270 to Montrose exit rather than fight the rockville pike (355) redlights

Pevs paint is a little steep, you should order online or find another source if you can.

i buy paint at pevs cause the paint is always fresh, they open the boxes and inspect for leakers and cause i want to support the local shop.

i'd rather pay a tad more an know that i'm helping to keep paintball alive in Washington DC

Not nearly as tricky as getting to the Fairfax store

Note: The Rockville store is on the same side of the street as the Best Buy.

Think of it this way. If you got off the Beltway onto 355/Wisconsin Ave. it will be on your right.
