My firend wants to sell me his old 12in Boomstick. I think they look sweet but I rarely see anyone using them now. I heard their fairly picky about paint so I might just get a more forgiving Lapco autospirit instead. What do think about boomies?

As far as I'm concerned, if you can afford a boomstick, it's worth it. Pretty much all of dyes stuff is good anyway. Go for it. -

i have a older boomy ( the one piece i think it means there older) anywho its heavy. ppl actually make fun of how heavy it is. it weighs the same as my e-blade cocker. if i where to hit soneoen with it on the head just a tap it would most likely knock em out. the weight kinda annoys me after a while.Comment

yeah tha glued ones. weight does'nt really matter to me, I'm kinda big. I just dont know if I want to invest money in it if a barrel half the cost will get that job done just as good. I was jsut wondering if u guys had had trouble with em.Comment

I had one, and it was very good. They are kind of heavy though, because the back is stainless steel.Comment

I've had a 14" old-style boomy for... wow... 2 years now. I've liked it. Sure, it's heavy, but it's 1/2 stainless steel, what do you expect? A Dye Stainless Steel would be heavier. Mine does not like marbs, but used to shoot darts with Proball (before they sucked).Comment

I have both a "old school" (glued boomie) and a "new school"
(screw together boomie) they both shoot great with any paint that's a good bore size match for them.anyone who tells you there are no such things as stupid questions is lying to you so they can laugh at your questions.Comment

boomy
I have an old boomy as well. Had it for 5 or 6 years. They are .688 (typically), so it will be able to use a wider range of paint than an Autospirit (which is a .687, sometimes .686).
They shoot great. I also believe the glued ones are more reliably aligned than the ones that screw together. However, I prefer my one-piece DYE aluminum. No alignment problems with one piece barrels, you KNOW it's straight.
I find DYE, CP and Lapco to all be excellent barrels if you purchase a good 'ole one piece aluminum. Cheap, straight, light and more accurate than any multi-piece barrel.Comment
