Buying Paintballs in Illinois

Is it true I need to be 18 to buy paintballs in the state of Illinois? I though you only needed to be 18 to buy the actual gun and tank. I also believed that it doesn't matter what age somebody is when purchasing parts and paint.

I called pbgear.com(my local store) because me and some friends desparatly need some paint, and I need some accesories(sp?). I was informed that my parent(s) need to be there in order for me to buy paint. This also happened to my friend when they tried to buy at Wal-mart and K-mart.

Can somebody clarify this for me?

Its true...i cant buy paint at any of the local chain stores because im only 17. There is a local shop that doesnt check ages at all though so you may be able to find a place like that

most if not all family stores do not let you purchase paintballs unless your 18..althougth usually your local paintball store will

Wal-Mart is the only place I've had trouble buying 'em.

yeah, same thing in south florida.
i think its a good thing actually. like being 18 or older to buy the actual marker, or tank, but about paint, i mean they can bend the rules on that.

Umm I dunno what store your going to but I by all my stuff from my local p-ball store, and Im 13. Infact I just ordered my new matrix w/o parental consent or whatnot.

I'm 15 and I buy paint from my local paintball shop without any problems, but my local K-Mart wouldn't let me buy a box of paintballs. If it's a problem for you then find a local paintball shop. If there isn't one near you, then you'll have to bring your parents to the normal store.

I am sixteen. A little update:

-Called pbgear.cim, they said that I have to bee 18 to buy.
-I also called BBT//Shocktech, they told me I only had to be 18 to buy the gun.

It looks like the bigger chain stores and bigger companies havve a company policy. A local hobby store WAS going to stock paintball sstuff, but the major was hhaving problemss wwith thhat. I ddunno, maybbe some stores are found in more liniant areas.

P.S.- I am using Linux.... annd its mmaking my keyboard shoott like a WAS board gun set at debounce 1.
