    Viking upgrades/parts?

Hey Im wondering if anyone could give me like the way a Viking is put together and the parts in it and what they do. Was told that it was a great gun and I would like to learn a little about the basics. Also if I were to buy a stock Viking what upgrades would I be looking to get to put it to its best potential, and the parts prices if possible. Thanx alot to all you Viking owners

new stock Viking comes with WAS board and is drilled for eyes. To uberize it I'd get:
    Razor trigger-$30
    Eyes- $20
    Eye Covers- $40
    CCM No Rise- $35
    Stickies- $20
    nice barrel

Poolshark hit the nail on the head. The parts that you MUST absolutely have are the eyes and eye covers. Max ROF without the eyes is 13, and you WILL get chop. I have not chopped in the 20,000 rounds since I got the eye, and installing the eyes changes the settings to provide unlimited max ROF.

Stock barrel is okay for starters. CCM feedneck is nice because the stock viking feedneck is so large that even Halos are loose in it. Trigger is all personal preference, but I do prefer the razor over the stock.

With the eyes, your bps is only limited by how fast your hopper loads or how fast your trigger finger is.

I just bought the eyes for my new half-milled Viking. I can however say that I've run about 3 cases through it and over ten with the old Nelson board Viking I owned (both without eyes) and NEVER chopped a single ball. I was using a HALO loader and did turn up the BPS on my old gun to 18 - although most of the time it was set at the factory 13.

Personally, I don't believe in LP - but both the Viking and Excals are famous for their lack of chopping - so it must be something. I can say this - and the history is in the PBN forum - when I owned my Nelson Viking over a year ago (had a Timmy then as well) I posted a thread that it would be cool to have eyes. The over whelming response was that I was completely insane and that due to the low number of chops the eyes weren't necessary. There must have been at least 20 hardcore AKA owners with excuse ranging from "it'll slow the marker down" to "eyes aren't needed and just another thing to break" that were even posted by AKA factory techs.

Funny what a difference a year makes.

BTW, I bought a SCM also. I also recommend getting the Equilink cable and tool kit. I haven't tried the SCM yet and actually have heard mixed reviews on it - but the hard cores love it...

Well, I was using a revy when I chopped. The Halo alone would prevent most chop. There is some debate over whether or not the Viking will pinch paint. With the Halo and eyes, you really dont even have to worry about it.

Equilink is used to make cganges to the Equilzer board - such as to turn up the BPS.

SCM stands for "Soda Can Mod" and is billed a "self conpensating" LPR that will not drop off during rapid fire. It is an AKA product - goto www.akalmp.com for more info. It replaces the internal LPR and sticks out the front of the gun - looks like an Angel volumizer.

Vikings are nice out of the box, period. I would *strongly* reccomend WAS evil eyes and JMJ eye covers. As for as upgrades:
                          -WAS Evil Eyes
                          -WAS wicked switch
                          -JMJ eye covers
-AKA Soda Can Mod (awsome LPR, I have on my excal)
                          -JMJ Razor trigger
-Froth-blade (custom made trigger, talk to Froth on pbn about it)
-Matrix frame conversion (puddlegum off of pbn does this)
-CCM clamping feedneck, do it, you will love it
                          barrel

I shoot excal #172 with all was goodies, board|switch|eyes, a SCM, and CCM feedneck, its fast, quiet, and efficient.

                          Internals:
The internals of a viking are pretty simple.. ram, hammer, valve, etc. Kind of similar to impy internals, but the tornado valve blows any impy valve out of the water.

                          Speed:
they make WAS board timmys look slow.

                          Efficiency:
2000+ off of a 68/45 after broken in gun

                          Pros and Cons
                          +Efficient as hell
                          +Fast.. very fast
                          +Simple contruction
+easy lubing, 3 drops of oil in asa after each day of use
-10,000 shot break in period (let all you friends shoot it )
                          -Heavy, depending on milling style
-Have to have toolkit to adjust lpr or scm

Also, there are several custom vikings to look into, here they are
                          gun (company) price
-Streamline/lite (Splatt) hard to find, but not cheap
-JMJ Featherlight (JMJ) JMJ's site is down.. not sure
-JMJ Crusader (JMJ) same as above
-Immortal (On Target Entertainment) 1150 stock| 1200 loaded
-PBXtreme (PBX) VERY HARD TO FIND and close to 1200
-Destructive Custom (Destructive Customs) 1000 - like strange impy mill
-AKA 1/2, full, non (AKA) 850+
                          -Highlander - mystery to me...
-Bonebrake - coming out soon, supposed to be lighter and have better internals

And, if you prefer closed bolt quietness and smoothness you can pick up an Excal, it will cost you though.

                          Hope this helps,
                          Tyler
