    Barrel Length and RT

I remeber when I got my RT long ago that you had to have a minimum barrel size of x' or longer else you would have problems.

What was the reasoning behind that and does that still hold true if you have a level 10?

The reasoning behind all that is that the ball accelerates within the first 6-8 inches of the gun. After that, the barrel is just directing the ball where you want it to go. That's why you want un-ported for the first part of the gun and ported after that. (Also why the inserts are a specific length in barrel kits.)

Level 10 has nothing to do with it.

Reason I was asking, I have a 8 inch armson barrel that I found when unpacking old paintball gear in storage. Wanted to see if I could use that on my RT.

      Guess not

you should be able to, I see no reason why not to. 8" is actually close to the most efficient barrel length, you'll shoot faster with an 8" barrel than a 16" barrel without messing with your regs or anything, well you will in theory at least. Just try it out man, worst thing that could happen is it's inaccurate and you have to get a new one. Not like you have to melt it down or anything.

I use to have a two piece All-American barrel then I went to a CP single piece. The AA had about 6" of useable barrel and the CP has 10" and both were the same bore size. I gained 10-20 fps with the CP barrel in that 4".
