i am starting a young guns 3 man team and my friend has a tippman 98 custom with response trigger. is the response trigger legal in tournys?

Depends on the field you go to. As long as you can set it so it does'nt go runaway and you lock it that way, or the judges are happy with it, then you'll be ok.
