    really bad reffing

so, we go to this pseudo xball 3man event at virgina.

in one game, i shoot the backguy, i gog the other guy,
and im about to bunker the last one in the far left cube.
we had one of our guys in the penalty box, and the other
one got shot out already. my coach kept yelling
"LEFT LEFT LEFT!!" so, i run to the right side.
thinkin, he meant "he's shooting left."
well, he wasnt.. he was aiming right at me.
but he got scared or something, coz he gave me
a whole second window to shoot him. i aimed
for his legs, and shot off two rounds. just to make sure.
then he shoots me 4 times. that's cool. he's gone anyway.

so the refs comes and check us both, and they call me
out. but they check him and they judge that he's still in.
that's about when i became furious. i kept pointing at
his leg. pointing at the spot where the ball broke.
the refs tried to shoo me off the field, but i kept pointing
at it. there was about 4 refs right about now. and they
all just stood there.. wondering.. thinking about what
to have for lunch, if they left the iron on at home.

i was screaming "LOOK! RIGHT THERE!! IT BROKE! SEE? PAINT!!"

they argued about it for a while.
then they asked me what color paint i shoot.
i couldnt believe it. what difference does it make?
HE HAS PAINT ON HIM! so, i shoot anyway, and it was green.
same color. they call him out and give us the game.
and for that outburst, i got one other guy in my team
2 minutes in the penalty box. stupid refs.

for the rest of the day, i just wanted to shoot
all the refs. but im a nice guy. i had to fight the urge
    to knife their xball bunkers.

    sucky refs shouldnt ref.
sucky refs shouldnt be in paintball at ALL.

I'm sorry I tend to get the bad end of refs, but never blantant things like that. Just bad luck for me (like paint from another game in some obscure spot or a clueless ref that doesnt know what he is doing)

Where did you play in VA?

Penalty Box? what kinda X ball game was this? Never heard of time in a penalty box even in any X ball style game I seen played. You sure your not playing Hockey? Never seen them rules on X Ball that used a penalty box at all. Not sure I like that application of it.

Uhh isn't that what xball is based on. You get hit and you go to a penalty box and come back in. Was supposed to make it exciting so they could televise it.

Might be... at least in that one...but the way they played it in WC for College X ball it wasn't. You were out for that particular game in that one. And it was a series of games with time limits. Wasn't any penalty box then. Unfortunately there is no real settled on set of ways to play X Ball. It sort of is evolving. So no thats not what X ball is all about in itself. Its more the allowing of coaching and spectator involvment that is the standard of it. The rest seems to change from time to time. And perhaps penalty boxes is one of those things that is evolving into it. I dunno. But its not always played like that.

                  bad refs piss me off

at this one place, we had about 30 people playing, and only 2 refs. oh, but there was like 5 people working in the clubhouse, and they could have been reffing

it was insane... everyone was wiping! i would hear "ahh i got hit!!" and someone would say "oh just wipe it!!"

hmm maybe thats why the field paint is marbs... so those fools cant wipe that shiz

                    i ref every weekend.
im there at my field, running around, sliding,
right on top of the players when things happen.

in my opinion, if you dont know how to ref
then you dont know how to play.

we played 4 sets, each set with 3 games. and 2 minutes in
between to get all staged up again. only three players get
to play each set. if one player violates any field rules,
then another player of the same team has to spend time in
the penalty box. time depending on severity of violation.
so, sometimes, it's 2 against 3. coaches and spectators
along one side of the field could yell anything they wanted.
it was tricky, trying to listen and pay attention to the
                        game all at once.

Reminds me of the Top Gun 3-man we played.

It was open, and when you played any Amateur teams, they always wiped.

We could of won two games putting us into finals if it wasn't for those cheating bo *****s.

Everytime they wiped it always was one of my shots too...

Ok I see. That is a good bit different then. We were playing as many games as could be in the time limit of the whole match. Five man on field each team. Center flag. There was a break in the middle of 10 minutes. Sort of like a half time I forget how long a half was. Like a 45 minutes or hour I think. You could get like four games in or so in that time. maybe more. But you could play as many in between as you could get in. But once you were out you were out for that game. Depended on how long each game lasted you came back only in the next game or if it was your rotation. The Coach was on the teams side the opposite side from the fans. He was the only coach that could talk directly to the team and was on the field. But behind a short wall. You could have off field coaches on that side buy they could only talk directly to the onfield coach. I coached from that place and filled pods was my job. We had two five man squads. The onfield coach could throw in the towel and end a game. To shorten it. But you lost the game point if you did that. But sometimes it was advantageous to get more games in within the time limit. So that was the way College X Ball was played at last years World Cup. But that was exhibition so nothing was ever set in stone. So your rules are changed the way you are playing it. But its certainly a very interesting way to play it. Thats kind of the fun thing about X Ball. So many ways to vary it. Makes it interesting.
