Very reliable, and heavy as a cinderblock. I think the all americans used them waaay back in the day as well.

Man does this bring back memories ... you all think Mags have a distinctive sound, wait till you hear a VM with a back bottle shooting ...
The ping sounds is almost painful LOL ... damn good markers though ... gotta love any marker with which you can do benchpresses in-between matches.
You used to see people running around with multiple 20oz bottles hook up to them ... you could do a back-bottle 20, bottom-line 20, and with an adapter a front under-barrel 20 ...

Isnt that the truth ... I wonder if someone can find the old Intruder kit for the VM's ...
It mounted the front bottle down towards the grip frame at an angle ... looked pretty nice

No, they're late model VMs. Those are plastic rails, not aluminum. Plus you can see the first 3 digits in the serial number (598) which means they were made in May, '98. Sheridan stopped making them in mid '98 so these could be some of the last VMs that were made.Originally posted by Lee
i think those are the first models too. with the aluminum side plates instead of plastic when pmi took over. i hade one of those.
dang i'm old....
Also, Crosman bought out Sheridan in '91, not PMI. Starting in '92 Crosman started making some changes to the VM. They slowly streamlined the VM's manufacturing process to reduce costs. They didn't make any major changes, just small things here and there.
$120 isn't a bad price. Nothing spectacular, but still fair. If I didn't already have a new-in-box VM I'd snatch one up.Comment

If you look closely at the boxes you can see the date stamp of april and may 1998 on the boxes themselves..My Unit:Click Here

Though, thats where I first caught the info abou them. Weird round about eh?
Heh, yeh I used to run dual bottles on my Magnum for Tourney play. I never had a longer barrel than the stock magnum barrel though.
