the purpose of the tapeworm is for bolt stick and that is about it. yeah i know you said you weren't for sure so here is the correct answere. also i just read on IOG that if you still have bolt stick after all this stuff(not that you do now) you should lube the bolt with AKA lube nor sure what its called. the AKA lube won't hurt the bolt either cuz its got this special stuff in it so your delrin won't swell up or anything and is totally safe. the guy who did this said he also got a much better velocity readout thingy of like +1/-2 and stuff.

Bolt stick... here we go...
only reason for the bolt to stick is not enough air going to the noid... the purpose of the tapeworm is to provide the air to the noid in order for bolt not to stick forward position and leak out... so the noid can provide air back to the bolt to cause it to move back...

what it does need is air pressure to work the solenoid. since the impulse (and shocker for that matter) are such high flow/low pressure guns, that without at least a flow restrictor like the tapeworm or isolator like and lpr, so much air flows out during the firing sequence that there isnt enough volume of air (hence pressure) to power the solenoid to move the bolt back and you get bolt stick. the reason why you get this much more easier without paint than with paint is because that paintball increases the resistance found by the air exiting the bolt. thereby not allowing as much air to pass which leads to less of a drop in pressure inside the gun with leaves the solenoid with enough air to move the bolt back.

So the tapeworm allows you to dry fire the marker
because the tapeworm provides the air to have the noid make the bolt go back in position

u know what... if u guys could just tell me some kick arce upgrades for this thing that would probably be more helpful. im about to join a team and this will be the best gun on the team. hopefuly we'll join some competitions soon. (just to let u know what plans i have for this gun)

jon/xpm, i love that u did that but could u give me a few reasons y those are the best internals? as this is my big step into the turny guns im not sure what all that stuff is.

Upgrades, and what they do

ram shaft: by upgrading this, you can lower the friction inside of your ram housing. This will help reduce first shot drop off, a problem that plagues almost all impulses. By far, the most popular is the New Designz Slick Shot. The slick shot works as advertised and will at least reduce first shot drop off. If you are lucky, it will go away completely. Evil, and eclipse also make ram shafts, but they aren't as popular.

hammer: The stock hammer in an impulse is aluminum, and fairly lightweight. You can upgrade to a steel or brass hammer to increase the weight, and raise air efficiency. There is no difference between any aftermarket hammers besides their weights and metal composition.

Bolts and pull pins: The goal here is to reduce friction and weight for the bolt. Upgraded bolts are usually delrin for weight and friction reduction, and some are cut short for even more weight reduction. The pull pin can be upgraded to a titanium or hollowed aluminum pin to reduce weight. Some bolts, like the New Designz bolt have better flow characteristics, and will give you better results than the stock bolt.

Valve: upgrade the valve in order to increase air flow and raise air efficiency over the stock valve. The new designz valve is the most popular, and they claim it will give hundreds of added shots as well as a lower operating pressure. From what I've heard, it works very well. Evil also makes an aftermarket valve that supposedly works very well too.

tapeworm is the most important upgrade for the impulse.....

u get an impulse, they are 75% perfect. all they need is a tapeworm, new trigger and a new barrel...
