History of paintball

Does any one know who made the first marker and why? I am writing my Junior paper on the Hystory of paintball and I need all sorts of information. If any of you could give me any sites or book references then that would be awesome.

In the 1970's (not sure of the exact year) Daisy made the first paintball marker. Though this marker was not designed to shoot at people, but trees and cattle.
