Best Pack for a Big Guy?

I'm trying to decide what pack I want to go to but the problem is that I'm a big guy (40" waist) and most packs just aren't built for people with a waist much bigger than 36" or so. I've tried the M-pack, great pack but the back padding was non-existant so the tighter I made it (so that it wouldn't slip) the more it dug into my back.

I've looked at the Redz and I'm just waiting for the new 04 stuff to come out in shops so that I can really take a look at it but it looks like a step in the right direction. I just wanted to know what experiences other big guys out there have had with packs.

I even tried the Worr Nartech pack...big mistake..that thing was a piece of junk and didn't fit right..the new Dye 04 packs look nice but I can almost assume they won't fit me..

I have a bigger than 40" waist. I use to wear a modded Ronin Gear 3/2 Stealth. Now I have a ER 4 pod pack. It has plenty of room for me

I'm a big guy myself, I have a 42" waist... I have found a few packs that work very well. The first pack being the Redz Dimension series, you buy a belt seperate from the pack and they make very large belts that fit us guys nicely. The Topstitch M-Packs (personally my favorite pack) come very large as well (the Large fits 38-42, the XL fits 44-48, and the XXL is a 50-54). The XXL is nice for putting around your gut and is an uber-comfortable pack, it would be the one that I recommend the most.

            Hope that helps!

I use a raven pack and i have a 38 inch waist. It works great and has lot of room to spare, i'm sure someone with 40 inch waist would fit fine. The pack is really comfy and the padding works great i would recommend it to anyone. The raven obg is great if you get the 6+5 it works so well and is the best pack (imho) you can have, and i had a dye, redz, ronin packs for a while and they were nice but not as nice as the obr.

I've got a Redz Dimension 3+2, with the 2xl belt.

It fits me like a champ, plenty of belt to go half again around my gigantic gullet.

                  Plenty comfy too.

I picked up a Redz 4.3 this year and love how it feels. I have a 38" waist, but I have a minor beer belly. The medium belt fits great with plenty of room to spare, which I hope I never have to take advantage of.

My only beef is the three loops are tight as heck and it's difficult to get pods into them. Yes, I undid the velcro.

I'll agree with the dimension one, work great for me, I got around a 42" waist, and the belts they currently have out can go up to 50" if I'm not mistaken,so plenty of room

Im a 36 and the redz medium belt kicks *** for me. My friend can use it and hes alot bigger than 40" and he dont complain about it being uncomfortable.

how much overlap do you have on your belt? I actually like having more than a few inches of overlap (crossover) on my belt...just feels a lot more snug and secure that way..
