I was away for a while, why does everyone hate smart parts now?

well, ive been in iraq for the last 6 months, and in japan for a while before that, so i have been away from all the new news that has been coming in. anyway, i happen to like smart parts products, so why does everyone suddenly have this big hatered towards them?

They have a patent out covering all markers with electronic switches (I believe, someone correct me if I'm wrong). This means that anyone that settles with the unhold gardner clan will have to pay patent royalties.

I like some of their products, but they have very questionable business ethics...

well, im not quite home yet, im in uzbekistan for the next 6 months or so, then back to japan for another 2, then ill be home finally, probably next august ill finally get to go home to visit family, but thats ok, here in uzbekistan its not that bad at all, and japan is a regular base, so im just happy to be back to normal life. thanks though for the thought, i appreciate it
