    Scuba to tank w/compressed Air

Hello, I figgured since the automags are high end paintball guns you guys might have had the money earlier to set something like this up and I might be able to learn from your wisdom. Now that I have humbled myself, on to the questions!

I recently aquired a 80cf cap. 3000psi scuba tank at a VERY good price. Hydro is up to date. My friends and I play at a homemade field in back of a farm. We are currently limited to playing time based on how long our compressed air and CO2 holds out (there are about 3 spyders and 2 or 3 various other guns that are still shooting CO2) So my question is, what do i need to get the 3000psi compressed air from the scuba and into our 3000+psi paintball tanks? I've seen some converters that claim to be "all you need" but I really dont want to buy an attachment and not be able to test it becuse i dont have the propper hose or something equally frustrating.

    Is that what i need?
Also if anyone has any general info on converting low end guns like spyders from co2 to air that they want to throw in my friends would be thankfull, but i certainly wouldn't expect much love for such guns here. Thanks in advance for any help.

Welcome to AO, the forum with a minty fresh smell. We take all types here. Not just mag owners.

Adapters like the one you have linked should work fine.

There really is'nt any special hoops you have to jump through to convert any gun to nitro/compressed air. Just hook it up and go.

Yes, thats all you need. My field uses those when the bulk tanks get low.

EDIT: load beat me to it.

Yes that adapter is all you need, but you really shouldn't have to pay more than about $40 for one online. And all you need to do to run air on your spyders, or any other marker for that matter, is get a proper HPA tank for those guns and fill it up and go play. You can pick up 47/3000 tanks for around $65 - $75 if you look around long enough.

              FYI,

Fill your tanks very slowly. They can and will heat up very fast during filling. You want to keep your tanks from heating up if at all possible.Just crack open the scuba and let it fill slowly till it stops, usually ~1000psi or so then open a little more and so on until it tops out.

              Take your time.

              Jay.

              That's the one I use.

Ive heard something like you can get only so many true 3k fills from a SCUBA tank, after that it slowly starts dwindling in pressure?? Because Ive heard that you need something like a booster pump to get true 3k fills??

Is there any truth to this?

Well you really only get one true 3k fill unless they overfill the scuba tank. If you take some air out of a tank filled to exactly 3k the pressure inside the tank will drop a bit. You'll still get a lot of decent fills though. You can easily play a day off of a full tank.

My shop fills a HP scuba tank to 3400psi.,that gets me about 3-4 full fills then it drops off from there.I then get 6-8 or so fills down to about 2000psi. With a L10 bolt it's kinda a waste to fill any lower than that.

You can get a mega booster or something similar to get higher fills but they start at something like $1000 and go up from there.

If you can get ahold of a second tank, standard practice is to use "top-off" fills.

Use the first tank and then "top off" to higher pressure with the second tank. The second tank will be empties of less volume during each fill, and you'll end up with higher pressure in the tanks on your paintguns. You won't ultimately get more shots per SCUBA tank fill - nothing is free - but you'll get higher pressure on each fill.

ya all you need is the regular fill station. like some of the other guys were saying online you shouldnt pay more that about 40. that is wut i got paid for mine. with your spydder or wut ever u have, you probably wont go through a tank in one day. but it is better to fill them after u play so that u will get a couple deceant fills.

also any gun that takes co2 will pretty much take compressed air. even a spyder
